you will need Visual Studio Professional 2005 / 2008, ActiveSync, windows mobile 5.0 / 6.0 SDK

There are plenty of non-Microsoft possibilities too for developing. See this thread:

Hello folks,
I've read this post : http://www.codeproject.com/KB/mobile/Anil_Kumar_Gupta.aspx[^]
There is something I didn't get, when the author says : "We can see that a key exists corresponding to the "499C0C20-A766-11cf-8011-00A0C90A8F78" in Registry." in the "Using the code" section, 3rd paragraph.
Where does this key come from ? How did it arrive in the registry ?
And how exactly can I get the key I have to use in my code ?
Thank you !!!

If your objective is to detect when the device is connected to the computer please see this article[^]. There is a section about starting a program when the device is connected to the computer. The native function I used (CeRunAppAtEvent) can be used for both starting programs or notifying running programs that an event has aoccurred.

Hello Joel Ivory
My objective is to handle the connection of the device on the PC side, but not on the Pocket PC side. but thank you anyway for your reply.

OpenCFNet has a library that can be used to detect the presence of a windows mobile device from the PC side. I've never used it, I only know of its existence. Go to their site for more info.

I'm using sockets to communicate between a server (PC .NET 2.0 ) and a client (PDA .NETCF)
Everything works perfect also when I manually close the client program and starts it up again.
But when the PDA powers down automatic, I have big problems to establish the connection again.
I have tried many things using different timer and heart beat concepts. I'm able to detect the disconnection but trying to close/destroy and then listen again sometime messes up things.
So if anybody could redirect me to a sample that shows how client server communication is done in the right, robust and WLAN immune way, I would be very happy
Thanks in advance!

Hi.
Anyone knows if vector graphics is available in compact framework for use in smart applications?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks.
|
|
|
|
|
You won't find vector graphics in .NET CF. Maybe there are 3rd party libraries out there (such as Amanith VG) that you can use, but I haven't tried them out so I don't know what to recommend. I'm looking forward to Silverlight Mobile[^] which will provide vector graphics for Windows Mobile devices (plus other devices as Microsoft adds support).
What are you planning to do with vector graphics?

Hi.
Thanks for reply. I am experimenting on a interactive application using vector graphics.
Silverlight is only for web, not applications, or what?

Silverlight apps are delivered via the web, you are correct. I only mentioned it because it does support a type of vector graphics and will be available for some mobile devices in the future. This is great for me personally because I have invested a lot of time learning how to take advantage of the desktop Silverlight and related tools. The desktop Silverlight version 3, which recently released a public Beta, gives the apps the ability to install on the desktop and launch offline. I have no idea if or when this feature will translate to mobile.
Sorry I don't have better suggestions for vector graphics right now. I'm interested in learning more as your experiments and research progress.
