I really don't get your question.
What is the text in the database? And what is the expected output?
Like you have this in the database: 'a b c d e f g h' and the output is 'f g h' or something.
And where do you have the problem? Splitting the data to whichever you want or getting data out of the database?

Hi, I want to change the url displaying on browser when a file is opened through it. For example,
file:///s3413.pdf/ to http://NewWebapplication.pdf
how it is possible using c#?

Write a new browser in C# and make it to do something horribly anti-standards as you just described.
Otherwise, it's not gonna happen. It should not happen. Do not so much as think that what you are asking is reasonable.
Now, if you just want to talk about redirection from an actual web site, not your local file system, there are things that can be done. But those don't involve C# either.

Well...It can be done...It is known as URL Rewriting Take a look into this URL ReWrite[^]

I know what URL rewriting is.
What you missed is that the OP is trying to rewrite when he is looking at the file system, NOT a web server.
Since there is no web server involved, there is no URL rewriting possible unless you write your own browser and then distribute that browser to all your customers.
And that's a really stupid thing to do.

Oops!! I got it ...I missed out the file system...Thanks for enlightening me

Had it been a web served document, your answer was rather good.

Hello. This is my first post. I'm an online teacher with only a little experience of actually creating web pages so I'd like to ask this question. I was referred here from another forum to an article about creating search engines with a C# spider but the article is quite old so I thought I'd ask here.
I'm trying to duplicate a site, www.acrofiche.com and I believe that the web master is using some code to gather and collect the links rather than manually inputting them into a database. Right now I'm looking to hire a programmer who can do the same thing for me but create an easy-to-use interface so I can do the same thing this site is doing without massive data entry.
Some have suggested that he is using a web crawler and C# to find the document links in an automated fashion. Another person mentioned curl and fsockopen() coupled with some regex code or something like Snoopy.
I'd like to know how this site is created so I know what I need a programmer to create for me since I'm doing this as a side hobby and don't want to get totally ripped off. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
the site is www.acrofiche.com

I'm sure a lot of people here could help you to write a web crawler; sadly, I'm not one of them. It might be helpful, though, to use View/Source to see what the site is outputting to your browser. That often leads to a wealth of information about the site directory structure, and from there you can often access other information that the designer never meant users to have. Few understand how to fully lock down a site, and you may find good resources such as scripts and server-side code that you can use. Many sites allow FTP access using the username 'email_address' with a password of Guest, and you might be able to glean a lot of information that way. I don't recommend stealing anyone's code, but as a learning tool nothing beats looking at code that actualy works.

Hi ,
I am building a ASP.Net page using c#. I have two tables. In the Employee_details table I have created a reference number for each role. In the master_table I have employee names and the reference numbers from Employee_Details table. Now when I list them in data grid based on a search criteria I should display the name and the role of the employee. How should I do this? We should be able to do this by adding dataset relations.I just forgot that all of sudden. can anyone help me?

case 3:
if ( )
{
//do something
number++;

else

Hi,
you can't fall through from one case to the next (except for empty cases), there must be an explicit change of program flow (break, return, throw, goto, ...)
your C++ code looks like a sequence of operations with a selectable start.
the easiest way IMO to get that done in C# is by putting everything in a for( ; ; ) {} and using a continue after each number++, plus of course providing an exit somehow.
However doing so there will be a performance hit since now the switch dispatching code gets executed over and over.
The ugly but high-performance alternative uses goto and labels; something like:
case 76:
label76:
...
goto label77;
case 77:
label77:
...
goto label78;
This adds two lines per case instead of one, but executes the switch only once.
