I have a .txt file.
i want to read that .txtc file as a DataSet
any help on how to do?
|
|
|
|
|
Create OleDbConnection to it and the fill the dataset as done with any database table. Or use methods in File class and manually fill the dataset.

What do you want to do? Write data to text file or read data from text file?

Hi all... I'm working on a report (Reporting Services) with an external image. The problem is it's not showing up. I'm passing the image through as a base64 string to the report and converting it back to bytes using the Convert.FromBase64String function. The code is as follows
Dim location As String = Configuration.ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("location")
Dim reader1 As New System.IO.StreamReader(location)
Dim base64 As String
Dim BinRead As New BinaryReader(reader1.BaseStream)
Dim file1 As New FileInfo(location)
base64 = Convert.ToBase64String(BinRead.ReadBytes(CType(file1.Length, Integer)))
Dim param As New Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportParameter("Image", base64, False)
Dim al As New List(Of Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportParameter)
al.Add(param)
ReportViewer1.LocalReport.EnableExternalImages = True
ReportViewer1.LocalReport.SetParameters(al)
ReportViewer1.RefreshReport()
.
.
.
Please ignore the BinReader / Reader bit. I havn't fixed that up yet. If someone can please tell me why this thing is not showing an image. I would be very greatful.

I'm a little confused on your post, but I'll give it a shot.
You could read the entire file into a stringbuilder and then do the concatenation at the end or you could read the file in line by line and combine the fields. Once the string builder has been modified with the changes you want, write it back out to the new file. You'll want to use something like the stringbuilder since strings are immutable.
If there are field headers at the top of the file, you'll want to remove the AEC_COMPATIBILITY header.
Any suggestions, ideas, or 'constructive criticism' are always welcome.

hi all,
i am very confuse about OOPs . Anybody can provide a good link which decsribe each OOPs concept and prove it is better than procedural with example (for example compare C and C++) or we can do work in more efficient way in OOPs compare to procedural language

OO has a set of advantages over procedural programming, but procedural has it's merits too. It's just a different way of organizing your code - You can read all about it on the Wikipedia.
Don't forget to write an article detailing your conclusions

The answer most often hinted for in a question like this (from what I remember from my first college course) is re usability, polymorphism and umm what was that third bullet point? *checks old notes still saved in my documents* thats it inheritance.

Funny part that was the first question during my interview and my boss said "you'd be surprised at how many people I interviewed that didn't know any of the three".

Any? I can imagine forgetting the actual word but knowing the definition, but any? Thats just bad form. Those words where (mostly) burned into my brain for the first 3 weeks of college.

Yeah.......they ran an ad in the paper at first and got a bunch of people who obviously didn't know squat although claiming otherwise. After that hiring and failing phase, they went through a head hunter (who pretested candidates) prior to being interviewed by the company.

Are those machines having .Net framework installed?

Ditto to d@anish. Is the appropriate framework here: c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\? You could also compare the reg keys (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\V#.
Depending on your installer, you could include the framework as a preq to be auto installed if not present.

The error message says that you machines in question don't have the correct version of the .NET Framework installed.

Does anyone know where can i find a program or sample code that can perform an image or picture search on desktop screen position x and y, then perform mouse action on that image appear.
I found an example program like AutoClickExtreme, but is there any other programs or sample code that i can create in vb?
thanks

I doubt you're going to find an example of this. Also, VB.NET doesn't support pointers, so a fast search through pixel data would be pretty slow. Writing that aprt of the app in C# would speed it dramatically. Search the articles for "Image processing for dummies" and you'll find examples on how to examine and manipulate pixel data using pointers in C#.
The search logic would probably go something like... scan the screen for the first pixel in the top left corner of the image you're searching for. If found, then start scanning the capture image from that pixel and comparing to the pixels in the search image. If you get through the search image without missing a pixel in the capture image, you've found what you're looking for.
But, then again, you didn't describe what you meant by "image or picture search".

I am coming from a REALbasic background so I'm not sure if this is possible or will be explained correctly.
What I had in REALbasic was a Class with a subclass of their httpsocket (to download a webpage). By subclassing it, it gave me access to it's events like DownloadComplete, Error, DataReceived, etc...
Is this type of thing possible in VB.Net? I have it working without the subclassing using the webrequest and webresponse functions but i need to run multiple requests at the same time and stop any of them at any time. The app is running tests using web tools on an internal network and then parsing the results into the app.
I don't NEED to use webrequest / webresponse if something else will do the trick better.
Thanks in advance to anyone with helpful information.

This sounds like you would wrap the WebRequest/WebResponse in your own class, and launch multiple instances of it under new threads, or keep the wrapper class and use the Begin... versions of the methods you're using now.

I have a object on my form in VB.net 2005 that doesn't handle mouse click event. I want to put a clear (transparent) panel over the object, just to capture the mouse events. Everytime I create a panel with the bg color matching the transparency key, I get a hole in my form, which I dont want. Any idea how to create a "clear" panel or picturebox?
Any simple ideas?

Does that "object" get the focus? If so, you might set the KeyPreview property of the form to True and then test in the form's MouseDown event for ...
(1) a mouse click (e.g. e.Button = Windows.Forms.MouseButtons.Right), and
(2) the "object" having the focus (e.g. Me.ActiveControl.Name = "Label1").
When those conditions are met, the "object" has been clicked.
