The pre-installed version of .NET Compact Framework in Windows Mobile 6 is version 2.0 SP1.
So if you are not using any APIs that are new to 3.5 since 2.0, I would suggest that you simply change the target framework in Visual Studio.

Pls. can anyone out there tell me if ever I've developed an applications for MS Windows XP using MS Visual C# or MS Visual C++ do I need permission? royalties ? some kind of License payment to Microsoft or a kind of liability on me for using their platform?

I am looking for documentation on what features are available in the compact framework with dealing with pocket excel. EX: how to write/read. and anything else.
Thank you.
I can't think of anything cool and nerdy to say.

I don't think there's anything exposed to the .Net Framrwork directly. If you can find COM interfaces for pocket office then you could create .Net wrappers from them.

Hi all!
I am trying to create an application for Pocket PC 2003 using C#, to send an SMS by connecting a built-in GSM modem through the USB port. I have found a library called SMSLib, which contains all the functions for sending n receiving an SMS through a GSM modem connected via USB.
I wrote a desktop appln. initially, to check whether the library works. It worked out successfully on the desktop app.
Now i have written the same code in a PPC2003 C# project, but it is not working.
The port to which i have connected the modem is not getting detected on the emulator. Because of this it is givin me an IOException.
Plz. can sumone tel me wat i should do, so that the port gets detected on the emulator???????????
N yes, I have also tried using ActiveSync, but No Luck!! May be it is not useful, or may be I dont know how to use it.
PLEASE help me out... Plz....
Thank You!

I am writing an application that writes a short string out of a bluetooth port to a device and reads the response that comes back from the device. It works great on an HTC Mogul running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, but when I run it on an HP iPAQ 211 running Windows Mobile 6 Classic it gives me an IOException at the point where it attempts to write the string to the comm port. I can open the port and connect to the bluetooth modem connected to the device OK. Here is the pertinent code:
using System.IO.Ports;
private void mnuConnect_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
(inboundPort and outboundPort are both set to "COM6" and the port opens OK)
serialIn = new System.IO.Ports.SerialPort(inboundPort, baudRate, Parity.None, 8, StopBits.One);
serialOut = new System.IO.Ports.SerialPort(outboundPort, baudRate, Parity.None, 8, StopBits.One);
serialIn.ReadTimeout = 1000;
serialOut.ReadTimeout = 1000;
try
{
if (!serialIn.IsOpen)
{
serialIn.Open();
}
if (!serialOut.IsOpen)
{
serialOut.Open();
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
MessageBox.Show(ex.Message);
}
}
private void btnConnect_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
try
{
string sQuery = "U" + sUnitNum + "N?\r"; (sQuery is "U01N?\r")
(the next line is where the IOException occurs. The port is open before this line, but is closed somehow after the exception)
serialOut.WriteLine(sQuery);
What am I doing wrong?

I figured it out. Only need one port. I was using some sample code that used two ports.

I'm doing a SIP in windows mobile 6 with VC2005.
And need to popup a word selection window near caret position.
But as SIP not the current thread of the inputing application, so
getCaretPos function have no use.
Can anyone help me?

|

Do you need this to work in every app that takes input or are you working on a custom app? I don't know how you would do this for every app and I am guessing that this is what you are trying to do.

Hello.
I need your help.
I am creating a simple vb.net (cf.net 2.0) twitter client.
IDE: VS.NET 2008. cf.net 2.0
I have 1 Form and 1 button onto it.
Codes behind event clicking button:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim lsParams As String = "status=" & Uri.EscapeDataString("message to post")
Dim loRequest As HttpWebRequest = CType(HttpWebRequest.Create("http://twitter.com/statuses/update.xml"), HttpWebRequest)
With loRequest
.Proxy = System.Net.GlobalProxySelection.GetEmptyWebProxy()
.Timeout = 10000
.AllowAutoRedirect = True
.AllowWriteStreamBuffering = True
.Method = "POST"
.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"
.ContentLength = Len(lsParams)
Dim loCred As New System.Net.NetworkCredential("USERNAME", "PASSWORD")
.Credentials = loCred
' Write the request paramater
Dim stOut As New StreamWriter(.GetRequestStream(), System.Text.Encoding.ASCII)
stOut.Write(lsParams)
stOut.Flush()
stOut.Close()
Dim loResp = .GetResponse
With loResp
.Close()
End With
End With
End Sub
For the line [Dim loRequest As HttpWebRequest = ] the HttpWebRequest is said to be NOT DEFINED.
Streamwriter is NOT defined as well.
.Close - it says that targeted framework does not support late binding.
What should I do? Do I need to Add a Reference? If yes, what should I add? Can you please help me?
Thank you.

Hint:
System.Net.HttpWebRequest and System.IO.StreamWriter

Thanks. No error in debugger but this time, VS.NET crashed everytime I run the emulator with the revised code.
Is the coding wrong? Or is something wrong with the PPC SDK (win mob 5 emulator) or VS?
|
|
|
|
|
I don't see anything that looks wrong in the code, but I don't have Twitter credentials to test it out past the GetRequestStream call. Can you run other mobile apps with the emulator?

I'm confused. I reinstalled VS.NET and still have the same issue without the code above.
OS: Vista.
When I run app in emulator, VS.NET crashes.

tell me which tools are required for developing application for windows mobile 5.0
Trioum

|
|

I was using Visual Studio 2005 professional edition, so I guess it should also be available in Visual Studio 2008 professional.

Scroll to the bottom of this article[^]. There's a table that shows which versions/editions of Visual Studio support which versions of Windows Mobile and the .Net Compact Framework. Also note that if you find you are unable to get Visual Studio the above article will also get you setup for development on Windows Mobile without Visual Studio.
|
|
|
|
|
|
you will need Visual Studio Professional 2005 / 2008, ActiveSync, windows mobile 5.0 / 6.0 SDK
|
|
|
|
|
There are plenty of non-Microsoft possibilities too for developing. See this thread:
