Not normally, no. I'd imagine you'd have to write code to get the owner of every file and examine it. That could take a very long time on a server.
|
|
|
|
|
Thank for your advice. Without writing the code, are there any third party software that could offer what I need? Thank

I don't know of any. That's where Google comes in handy...

I found that the command dir /q display the ownership of the file. But when I run it its display all of the ownership of the file mixed in the share drive. I try to find the way that use this command to filter to a specific user of the domain. Is it possible to do that?

Get a windows-version of grep, the use it to filter for the username. Drawback: no way of knowing where that file was exactly.
Cheers,
Sebastian

You can do it with WMI scripts, but it will be slow.
To start you off, how to find the owner of the file "C:\MyDoc.doc":
On Error Resume Next
strComputer = "."
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
& "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
strFile = "C:\MyDoc.doc"
Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("ASSOCIATORS OF {Win32_LogicalFileSecuritySetting='" & strFile & "'}" _
& " WHERE AssocClass=Win32_LogicalFileOwner ResultRole=Owner")
For Each objItem in colItems
Wscript.Echo objItem.ReferencedDomainName
Wscript.Echo objItem.AccountName
Next
There's plenty more info at Microsoft ScriptCenter[^]

Thank you very much for your script. I will try to do it and if I have any question i will check the resource that you provide or asking back to you. Thank

Dear All,
I have DELL LAtitude E6500, WIN XP SP3 is on the machine, and is operating normally.
I am trying to format and re install WINXPSP3 again, but when i boot the CD , things go great for a short time, then a blue screen appears:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if theis screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical information:
STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC00000034. 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"
Any help ???

Thanks alot Richard,
I already read the article , but the solution was little bit easier.
Since "No hard disk found" error doesnot appear, all i did is i turned the SATA into ATA in the SATA CONFIGURATION menu (BIOS).
Best regards,
|
|
|
|
|
After you install the correct chipset for this (you can also do this during boot by pressing F6 and inserting the driver disk), i would switch this back since the performance of this mode is a lot slower then native SATA mode...
Do Or Don't, there is no "try catch ex as exception end try"

do we have IP SMTP port beside port 25?
Generally SMTP is default with port 25, so do we have another port in SMTP?
thx

port '25' is what's known as a 'well known' port, classified by a group called IANA http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers[^]
You can use any port you like really, but you'd be better advised to make it higher than well known and registered ports ..

You have to identify the problem why your computer running slow when you open an office. The better way is suing the performance and counter log tool which is provide by windows in control panel -> administrative tool. This took can give you an information which identify the problem whether it come from the cpu speed or insufficient RAM...

Hi, please check your event viewer in the system section and filter for an event source of W32Time from the date that it cause you a problem. Post its information on this forum which could be easy to address the problem.
Thank,
|
|
|
|
|
please see my w32time:
Time Provider NtpClient: This machine is configured to use
the domain hierarchy to determine its time source, but it is
the PDC emulator for the domain at the root of the forest,
so there is no machine above it in the domain hierarchy to
use as a time source. It is recommended that you either configure
a reliable time service in the root domain, or manually configure
the PDC to synchronize with an external time source. Otherwise,
this machine will function as the authoritative time source in
the domain hierarchy. If an external time source is not configured
or used for this computer, you may choose to disable the NtpClient.
one more is:
The time service has not synchronized the system time for
86400 seconds because none of the time service providers
provided a usable time stamp. The time service is no longer
synchronized and cannot provide the time to other clients or
update the system clock. Monitor the system events displayed
in the Event Viewer to make sure that a more serious problem
does not exist.
thanks

We are Building our code in two Visual Studio 2005 environments.
I think that there is no difference in two development environments.
However, there is an environment which gives the following error
on running the executables built.
OSVersion : Windows Server 2003.
SYSERR
Error Information :
Error occurred in system call : CreateProcess()
Return Value : -1
Error Number : 22
Error Message : The device does not recognize the command.
