Be more specific. Does it time out? Does it simply lose the session when it transfers to another machine in the farm?
Have you synchronised the machine key across the servers? Have you ensured that the IIS Identfier is the same for the website across all servers? Can each of the web servers see the state server?

That shows either you did not read the reply or you're too ignorant to differentiate between question and comment. If you can not understand such simple reply, I wonder how you will resolve your issue?
You could have simply thanked for the reply and mentioned you look into it, or get back to him later, which shows your gratitude and comprehension.

Sorry to frame wrong question.
My session expires when it tries to jump among CPU's .Yes the state server is configures properly and the database is also working properly.
No issues when no of worker processes set to 1,but soon they are increased it times out.
I have already added state server in web.config and webgarden also set to true in machine.config
It seems to be I am missing out some step ,cant get exactly where..?

hi,
i have a txt file which is getting updated with records on a server. I am reading the file using a streamreader and filestream, by mapping the drive of the server where the file is getting appended, using asp.net 2005. i am using the following code:
StreamReader reader= new StreamReader(new FileStream(sfilepath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.ReadWrite, 8, FileOptions.Asynchronous));
reader is then passed to a bulkinsert method which inserts the records one by one in the database.
Problem is, sometime duplicate entries gets inserted in the database, but actualy the txt file does not contain duplicate entries.

Is this being done as a transaction or just row by row inserts?
You could always try to run a select for that record in the db before you decide to insert it.

no its a row by row insert. the file is getting appended continuously. i am reading it with a streamreader. i am continuing reading from the file with the help of a byte count.

I have a peculiar issue.
In my form, there is a tree view which is populating correctly. There is also a link button which will be visible only when any of the node in tree view is clicked. So I made LinkButton1.Visible = false on page loading and made as true on SelectedNodeChanged event.
Treeview updation and Selected node change event are all happening inside the Update Panel.
The issue is the linkbutton is not displaying while clicking on selected node. It displays only on buttonclick event. I need to display it while clicking on selected node. Any idea what's happening?
I don't know how to fix this. Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Is the link button also present in the update panel ?

Good day,
I'm doing an ASP.NET web project. One of the site's functionallities is that the user can upload / download files ( the uploaded files are not supposed to be with size ovr 1 MB). Since there are about 10 000 visitors per day and A LOT of people download and upload files a big problem occured. As you know the hhtp web traffic and web space are quite expensive and 1000 people uploading and downloading 1mb files a day costs a lot.
So i decied to buy an FTP space where i'm going to upload and download the files.
Here i'm stuck! What is the best way to upload / download files on anftp server? I'm thinking of two ways:
1) The client anthenticates on the web server and uploads the files. The server uploads the files on the FTP
2) The clients directly authenticates on the ftp server and uploads files withougt the web server.
However the 1) has a disadvantage that the server makes "double traffic" ( one for receiving the file and one of uploading the file on an ftp server)
The 2) is that the password must be stored on the client and there is a serious security risk
Please Help
Best wishes, Hristiyan

Hristiyan wrote: the uploaded files are not supposed to be with size ovr 1 MB
To begin with 1MB is not that much of data by today's account
Hristiyan wrote: Since there are about 10 000 visitors per day and A LOT of people download and upload files a big problem occured.
Do you expect all the people to upload 1MB of data? If so 10,000 x 1MB = 10,000MB = 10GB. Do you expect this to be daily uploads and downloads? If so, we have very high traffic.
Hristiyan wrote: So i decied to buy an FTP space where i'm going to upload and download the files.
How do you think FTP will solve you the storage space?
What is the realistic upload do you expect? How about download?
We have an application that can upload upto 700MB and servers thousands concurent users downloading files. I don't see where is your problem.
Now, as for ftp: if you have to do it with option 1, then why don't cut off the ftp and handle it in your own. If you can upload that much data, then you are all set

Maybe i didn't make myself clear. The project that i'm making requires that every day aroung 1000 to 5000 people are gonna upload / download files which are around 1 mb. I'm on a web hosting plan which requires $5 for each 5GB additional traffic. Which means 30x5$ = 150$ per month for additional web traffic and 5$ for each 5$ for each 500MB web space. You can immagine the sum.
Since i ALMOST don't benefit from my web site, thats quite an expense. So some time ago i saw some FTP hostings which are A LOT more affortable ( The FTP traffic is much cheaper, the ftp space is much cheaper). So my main idea is to store those files on an that kind of FTP server. However i need logic so i can upload files on that FTP server. In my oppinion there are two ways to achieve this:
1) The client authenticates to the web server -> Uploads the file on the web server -> The web server uploads the file on the FTP server. However this method has a disadvantage - the web server will have to make twice as much traffic. Once for the client to upload data on the web server and once for the web server to upload data on the ftp server.
2) When the client is uploading the file directly upload it on the FTP server withought the intervention of the web server. However this means that "somewhere on the client side" is supposed to be stored the password of the FTP server ( so the client can upload the file )
However i think that there might be a another way. Like:
The client authenticates to the web server. "Somehow the web server tells the ftp server that the client is gonna upload a file and the ftp server accepts the connection" ( Thats some really newbiesh way to explain it though )
Any suggestions ?
Best wishes, Hristiyan
