OK, I just dumped the functions between SCRIPT tags below the page header. VS.NET shows it nicely, but something it doesnt recognise, like "class" for example (lame  ) and you get halve of the JavaScript underlined in red because of the so-called "syntax" errors.
I notice a schema URL inserted by VS for IE5, but class has been around since IE3 I think. Then it complains I cant place a table between SPAN tags, but DIV is OK (dope).
I somehow remmebr NOT seeing all these syntax underlining before I formated my HDD the other day. I could be wrong, I just started this web stuff a week or two ago...

If I remember correctly there was a way you could add to the keywords list by adding them to a file.
Perhaps you can do the same using VS.NET I dunno though...I think most IDE support this undocumented feature...
Perhaps you could do the same for HTML tags and atttributes and such...

Got a real problem!
Since an abortive attempt to load Netscape on Monday which made my PC restart, I haven,t been a ble to get into InterDev. The Splash screen comes up then I get an Application Error and when I Debug, it gives me the following message:
"Unhandled Exception in DEVENV.EXE(MSENV.DLL) 0x0C0000005 Access Violation"
As well as replacing both DEVENV.EXE and MSENV.DLL I've tried:
1. Rebooting (approx 2,500 times!)
2. Removing and reloading InterDev.
3. Removing and reloading Visual Studio.
4. Re installing Windows 2000 Pro.
5. Re installing IE5.5.
6. RegClean.exe.
7. Praying!
8. Cursing!
....still no Go!
My next move will be to Format the drive and start over, though I am reluctant as I have stuff I don't want to lose and can't easily back up and it would take ages to do.
Then maybe suicide!!!
Any ideas? Any constructive help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you considered re-installing IIS? When does this Access Violation occur? I've never seen this exact error at startup, but I did have trouble initially getting InterDev to connect to my server because the default security setting blocks web publishing. I've also run into a problem trying to delete a folder from a site - the same error message you're getting. Deleting the contents of the folder, one file at a time, then deleting the empty folder worked fine for some unexplained reason. InterDev sux.

thanx for the reply. I have tried re-installing IIS as you suggested but no good I'm afraid.
It occurs about 10secs after the InterDev splash screen appears, so I guess it's something to do with initialisation of the app itself. I think it happens when one of the functions in MSENV.DLL is called. I've used Dependency Walker on the dll and it checks out OK. I guess perhaps it's calling another dll somewhere which got corrupted when my PC went crazy.
Any more ideas?

That's right about the time the New Project wizard should be starting. The wizard code could be broke, I suppose, but at the same time it's also searching for existing projects you may want to open. Have you tried recalculating links in IIS? Or clearing and resetting permissions on each of your websites?
BTW, the whiskey ought to do the job. The last time I had some I was fairly sure I as going to die.

COuld be a physical memory problem? Do you have more than one RAM chip available? My suggestion is to try swop memory perhaps. Or try lower memory timing in BIOS.

Are there any favicon guru's out there? I've put the icon in, but nothing. I even tried using that script you can use to set a different favicon type thing on different pages to force it, but nothing. On the other hand, my CP link has a normal ie icon as well, Bob is gone. Since previous posts on this topic, has anyone come up with a hard and fast way to keep favicon behaving itself? I now don't know if it's my code or browser causing the problem

OK, here goes my bit, mite help, most likely wont, but seeing no-one else is offering help, I will give it a shot.
For a favicon to display on a page that page must be in your favourites. Now that I assume you know, BUT my logic tells me that IE saves this icon with the favourite, somewhere down in MS temp wasteland. I suggest you clear your temp and temp internet files, perhaps that works 
But saying all this, I have never been able to make it behave nicely either

Try it in Mozilla. If it works then, don't worry about it.
For some odd reason, IE shows favicons for me upon initial installation, and then loses them several weeks later, never to show them again. This has happened on 4 machines and 3 versions of IE so far... For a feature MS originated, you'd think they could make it work a bit better...

I installed Mozilla the other day. Had to reinstall XP to fix all the problems it created. I gathered 4 hours of reinstalling would be the quicker fix!

Oh well, as it seems that independant financial advisors (the only subscribers to our site) may be colour blind, and certainly bored by tech, I guess there's no pointing trying to fart against IE thunder...  Would be cool if it worked though.

I have a user control in which I need to bind a list of State abbreviations to a dropdown list. I have an array as follows:

I tried to use the Page Load event to initialize the dropdown with the values as follows:

I know the code is pristine but for some reason the Page Load isn't getting fired off in the control.

I have a web page set up with several different frames. I am using some
JavaScript in an .aspx page to populate a "Tree View" type of appearance. I
have 3 seperate databases with 4 tables in each that I want to display in
the "main" frame (via command buttons in a "bottom" frame). I would like to
be able to select a database in the "Tree View" and then be able to select
one of the 4 tables in a "bottom" frame to populate the main frame. I have
been able to pupulate the main frame with one table, but I do not know how
to let the "bottom" frame know what database to choose from to display one
of the four tables. Any help would be appreciated.

to refer to a variable in a different frame you just have to use the:
parent.frames collection.
Each of your frames should have a name that you use to refer to it, eg:
parent.frames["myframe"].myvar
This isn't the exact same thing but it should give you a good idea-

Hey all. I have a very simple user control for a phone number. It consists of three textboxes (area code, prefix and number). I want to define a readonly property that returns a string with all three values concatenated. I define the control, I add the following for the property:

But when I tried to refer to it from the CodeBehind page on the ASPX file that I've got it hosted on it doesn't have a reference to the control.
So I just manually declared it in the ASPX file and everything worked fine.
Is there a way to force VS.NET to declare UserControls on the codebehind page when you drag them into the page?

Can ASP pages run on Redhat Linux 7.1? I don't want to spent money on this. I have a small web page built in ASP. And I'd like to have it run on my linux 7.1 (Redhat) box. Is this possible for 1. And twp can it be down for free with some rpm installation or other package available for linux?

There's a couple of options I know of. Unfortunately I think they're all commercial, anyway, first option is ChiliSoft's ChiliAsp. The other is Halcyon Software's iASP (Instant ASP). Both are pretty easy to install (I've used ChiliAsp).

If you are using Linux, just use PHP. If you are serious about doing ASP/ASP.NET development, then use Windows.

Hi,
Do any of you know of an ad-rotator, that uses a timer? We would like to display banners, that "auto-rotate" as it were, every 20 secs or so, without the page being refreshed. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take too long to write in Javascript, but was just wondering if one existed already.

Im trying to add the SelectSingleNode funktion supported i MSXML
to Netscape/Mozilla. By implementing a prototyp-funktion that
wraps the Moz corresponding native-implementation.
Has any one done this ore a suggestion on artikels.
The idea is not to loop the XMLdocument finding the corresponding
node to the xpath, but to use the Mozilla xpath funktionality.
