Hi Folks
I have created my own web browser by dragging the web browser control into a form using Visual Basic 2008 in order to host my ASP.Net pages. However, it is a requirement of the project I am working that users should not be able to use hot keys, especially print screen, ctrl P, ctrl C, and ctrl V. There are no other controls on my form, so how can stop users using these keys, but only in this browser? Can anyone show me how do this, please?
Further, my asp.net page uses an iframe tag to show a word document, and again, I need to stop them from copying and pasting from the word document into another word document through the browser. Can I stop them in my browser in app stack?
Thanks

Don't do this. It only get's your post ignored. nothing is that urgent where you need to post a question on a forum.
I have to question the viability of even doing this considering a user could just open up another browser and get to the same ASP.NET pages, without the "security" feature you're implying here.
But, I haven't seen any kind of requirement to do this before, so I don't really know if it's going to work, but you might want to check into possibly handling the KeyDown event of the browser. Check to see which key is being pressed, then which modifier, and if it's the correct key combination, set the e.Handled property to True and forget about it.

That was just a little joke. Seriously though your question is not explained very well. I am therefore not exactly sure what it is that you want to know.
Are you asking how to check if a user exists? If so, what has that to do with a dialogue. and for that matter what dialog?
On the other hand you could be asking about how to implement a Login Dialogue.
You could mean something entirely different.
Please make your request a little clearer.

yes
PS: that was a very specific question, which allowed for a succinct answer, but then maybe you wanted something more to read on. So: yes indeed, you do, sometimes.

Given how clueless this post is, I'd say you're already well suited to a career in management.

Hi,
May i know how can i sign the Vbscript which i have written (in which im using Wshell where it depends on internet options)...thru certificate
pls help me regarding the same...
|
|
|
|
|
Just signing the script with any old signature doesn't automatically make it a trusted script. The browser also has to be able to verify the signature from a trusted signature authority, which also has to be configured in the browser, otherwise, you're wasting your time.
Goggle results for "digitally sign vbscript[^]".

No. The script has to be signed seperately and the certificate has to be verifiable by an authority.

For the last time - this will NOT work without user intervention. You cannot change the registry on a client machine from any untrusted code running inside the browser.
Seriously, pick up a book on it...

Hi,
What have you tried?
If you want any help with connection strings then you can refer to::
www.connectionstrings.com/[^]
You can get many google search results for VB 2008 and SQL server.
"Legacy code" often differs from its suggested alternative by actually working and scaling.

If with inbuilt sql server, you mean the sql server that comes with the VS 2008 Express editions, all you need to do is click the help menu in visual studio and then the How Do I section.
There is a whole subject on how to work with data (databases). It has paragraphs on interaction between applications and databases, which will also explain how to update, insert, and delete data.
Or is there a more specific problem you are stuck with?
My advice is free, and you may get what you paid for.

thank you both of you.. i figured it out last night.. i used whole codes to access the database and perform insert, deletion, update and traversing..
i used dataset, sqlcommands, sqldataadapters and sqldatareaders they worked great.. thanks Bjarne and the other guy without name

well simply put.
say i have a word "TEST"
i want a string to build until it finds a match, namely "TEST"
so in this case the loop should
loop thru all the alphabets A-Z to do a check like below
dim out as string
dim arr() as string
arr(1) ="A"
arr(2) ="B"
arr(26) ="Z"
note that variable out is only a single character.
for lp as integer =1 to 26
out = Arr(lp)
IF out="TEST" then
Msgbox("Found")
end if
next
if a single character does not equal the word "TEST" then add a second character to out, like below....
for lp as integer =1 to 26
out = Arr(1) & Arr(lp)
IF out="TEST" then
Msgbox("Found")
end if
next
this should repeat untill out = "TEST"
hope this makes sense but dont know how to better explain the above
thanks though

Are you aware that computational time would increase as 26^N where N is your test string lenght?

Why not just set out to "TEST" since you are bound to find a match (eventually - within 26^N comparisons!)
What is the purpose behind doing it by building out one char at a time?
If we knew that we might be able to suggest a way forward.

What the others guys said.
This sounds a lot like you are actually trying to accomplish something completely different from what you are describing here.
What you are describing here, sounds to me like what you think is the solution to the actual problem.
So please describe the actual problem to us.
