hi,
does anybody know that .net version can cause a problem in remote debugging ?
i have .net 3.5 in my client and in other machine i have .net 2.0 without development tools like visual studio or other
i want to debug a large scale windows application developed in C# and .net 2.0 .
i used msvsmon in target machine and i want to attach the process (win service in my project). i can see it in my 'attach to process' window's process list and i attach it . but it does not work.
does .net framework versions cause this problem ?
tanks.

Be more specific. Do you get any error messages? if so what?

Make sure you have the .pdb files available for the assembly you're trying to debug. If for some reason it doesn't automatically load the symbols, open the Modules window, right-click your assembly name and select "Load Symbols" and select the pdb file. Make sure the source code you have open, the pdb file, and the assembly versions all match up, otherwise you won't be able to load the symbols or hit any breakpoints.

after attaching i see this message on every breakpoint.
The breakpoint will not currently be hit. no symbols have been loaded for this document
does this is for .pdb files ?

How can your application run without the .NET Framework?

By adding the .NET 3.5 redistributable as a required element in your installer.

Nope. I'm just making it up as I go along.

Without .NET Framework, there is no program made using .NET technologies can run. So, any .NET program requires .NET Framewrok to be installed where it will run. But if you have developed a program using .NET Framework 3.5 without using .NET Framework 3.5 features, then you can use that program in .NET Framework 2.0. But while creating the setup package, you need to mention for which .NET Framework, the program will run.

I created a project of type class library (.net C#), then i registered my assembly in Visual Studios Command Prompt using following commands:
regasm /tlb:membershipcards.tlb membershipcards.dll
gacutil /i membershipcards.dll
it is working fine, but what i will do to register my dll on a system where Visual Studios is not installed.
I tried regsvr32 but it is not working , it is asking entry point.

Anyone have any practical experience using this component in a corporate environment?
My exchange server name doesn't seem to work. Presumably I need some specific designation for SMTP.
