When you say you've "Mapped the debug directory to the target machine", are you trying to run the program (exe) from your VM, hoping it will pick what it needs out of the debug folder, or are you trying to run the application directly out of the mapped debug folder?

Shouldn't you be deploying the contents of your Release folder?

As others have already stated XCopy is the quickest and simplest for an experienced dev like yourself. However, if you haven't already done so, you might want to read up on click-once deployment[^]. There's a lot of it, but is fairly easy to understand.

I use a VS setup project to create an *.msi file to install. I'm using VS2008 now, but it worked OK with VS2005.

I'll second the VS Setup Project. I've used it for several apps at work, and i can also package a setup.exe with any prerequisite packages (.NET Framework, DirectX version, MySQL, whatever you want). You can have it download these separate installers from the web, or include them with your installer. While the setup project doesn't lend itself to much customization, it's sufficient for basic deployment.

Hello,
Iam a novice in Windows programming. I have a Windows.Form.Treeview that populates from the database. I also have a reject changes button in the form which basically executes this code
row = (DataRow)tvAccountHierarchy.Nodes[0].Tag;
row.Table.DataSet.RejectChanges();
LoadTree(tvAccountHierarchy, row.Table.DataSet);
I have noticed that when I click on the reject changes button the tree view basically repopulates from the already created Dataset (after rejecting the changes) , but it dosent seem to be re-populating it properly.
The parent - child relationships which show up when loaded the first time , dosent maintain after i hit the reject changes button.
The code has been moslty borrowed from this link
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/articles/treeview_databinding.asp
I am desperately hoping for some help.
Thanks,
Ashwin
P.S: I even tried re-loading the data from the database when i hit the reject button. But still the parent -child relationship seems to get screwed up.

There is an article about this Data Binding TreeView in C#[^], here on CP.
Try adapting that model to your situation. Doing that, might allow you to understand the process a little better, and resolve your issues.

Could you maybe elaborate on the code hidden behind those 7 dots.

Forms are classes yes? These means at runtime they are objects yes? Therefore we can rewrite your question thus:
what is the easiest way to transfer values from child class to parent class.
what is the easiest way to transfer values from child object to parent object.
That said, if you do not know the answer to this then you need to obtain and study some beginner programming materials.

Well I can say if you make a class which is global then can tranfer parent form to child form . The easiest way is
example if your form1 have
textbox1.text = "....."
and if you want to show that string in another form name form2
it would be
label1.text=form1.textbox1.text
then it would show the string have in your textbox1.text
Hope it will help you

I want that the program shud send the screen shot taken only when it gets some kind of notification that the user has signed in,into the mail address n now the screen shot shud be send.
how to do it?
pls help..thanks in advance..
for reference i m giving below the subject of posted message that i have gone thru..

If you have gone through the code from the article, and understand it, you should have no difficulty in implementing the additional functionality that you require.
If, on the other hand, you do not understand what you have already done, there is no point in trying to modify it.
Write some code, give it a try, and then come back here when, and if, you get stuck on a particular part of the code.

Well,i understood the code little bit,as i am just a beginner..i need this job done urgently..so i thought that i'll get some help on this forum in doing this...
Is it possible to do what i am looking for?
like automatically an email along with the attachment should be send to an email address,only when the user has logged in,into that particular account?

As I said before. Write some code, then ask specific questions about specific problems.
If the problem is that urgent you will need to get your wallet/credit card out. My daily rate is quite reasonable, or there is always rent-a-coder.
Questions like "I want an app to help me rule the world. Any one got the code for that?" tend not to get answered.

I would like to copy file from local to remote machine using WMI in C++. Not quite sure how to do this.
According to MS doc, "Win32_Directory" can be a good candidate. Anybody got idea? Thanks in advance.

Why use WMI when you can just use the normal file methods??
And you should really be asking this in the C++ forums, not Windows Forms.

I have a datagridview with hundreds of records.
I need the datagridview content be frozen when I'm scrolling vertically using vertical scroll bar. Like in Outlook. The problem occurred because I don't want to repaint the grid by my rules when the visible part is changed.
How can I freeze that?
|
|
|
|
|
Do you mean keep the cells static with just the scrollbar thumb tab moving?
If so, I don't believe it is possible. DataGridView doesn't have a BeginUpdate method, which anyway would freeze the scrollbar as well. It does have SuspendLayout()/ResumeLayout() but the same problem applies to them.
Of course, now that I have said that, someone will post an answer.
