I want to know what is the difference between coding a MFC dialog app and a MFC MDI or something. I want to know what exactly the gray code means so I will never get lost. I want to know the basic and, if there is some, advanced architecture...

I'm with kmaz. "Programming Windows with MFC" by Jeff Prosise has been very helpful for me. I've just started out with the MFC stuff myself and have learned everything so far from that book, CodeProject and www.codeguru.com. It may take some digging and playing around, but the answer always within those resources somewhere. Trolling the messageboard is quite useful as well, although I wish the search capabilities were a little better.

I think you first need to obtain basic Windows programming knowledge. MFC is a relatively think wrapper around Windows API. Check the books from Petzold and Prosise, and then you'll have primary understanding of MFC. Don't expect to obtain solid knowledge only from free Web-based articles. Invest in a few good books, and it will pay off.

I started with the Scribble tutorial from MSDN. Then with some Teach yourself in XXX days/hours. Then I discovered CP and nothing else was needed.

I would like to automate the page setup parameters in Windows NT without user interaction.
Can you change the settings to say: Landscape and using Legal Paper Size without invoking the Page Setup, for an NT Networked printer.
I know I can do this with an application but I don't know how to with MSHTML or the IE Webbrowser Control.

I would like to see someone attempt a series of articles perhaps on building a Hotmail-like ActiveX control. Something that will work on various platforms and browsers. With rich text controls and even if they are feeling squirrely enough a simple spell check. (I know, spell check on a web app. but times are a changing).

An IE specific RTF control is actually built right into the browser and all you need to do is plug it on the HTML and voila!
Complete with bold, italics, hyperlinking, ...

I realize that and have used it in production code for a CMS before, but it doesn't really help those who do not use IE on a PC. This has caused some problems. I've begun to build it myself but it's all new to me and I'm doing it in my spare time, which there is very little of . I just know this is old hat for some out there.
Real programmers don't document. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

ActiveX on different platforms? You kidding lol. It is Windows-only technology. Maybe someday Linux (and others) will have COM built in too, but not now

- It helps improve your confidence to have a few CP articles to your credit
- Being currently unemployed you are getting out of touch with coding. The article will help stop that

RSN. Which means Real Soon Now. I want to do it, I know I should do it and it's getting to the time I have to do it.
I am just having problems at the moment reading something let alone produce something. As weak as this sounds it is the case at the moment.
I live with my 2 parents in-law (their place), wife and 2 kids in a smallish 3 bedroom home. Mother In-law had back surgery last week to fuse vertabrae together. 3 weeks ago my wife had surgery of her own. It's also school holidays. So I am finding myself doing a lot more around the house than usual and with both kids home there is constant noise.
I have my computer setup on the dining table which is in the same room as the TV. So I have no where to lock myself away with my work.
On top of that at the moment I have my bank, credit union and car leasing compnay chasing me for money I don't have. I am searching for work, a payout I am owed is overdue so I am down to waiting for my tax rebate.
I know it is not the end of the world but it all seems pretty f***ed up from where I am sitting.
Any idea why I am not getting any emails in response to replies to my posts?
