Capture the input and use XmlHttp to transmit the contents to the server and examine the response.

If user presses OK, it returns TRUE . You can use it like
if(window.confirm('Are you sure to insert'))

Hi,
I have a generic object of type List<Items> with a sub collection of objects of type List<Descriptions>. I want to bind them to a gridview but not sure if it's possible, I have tried binding only the object of type List<Items> but if I try adding an ItemTemplate with another grid to try to bind the object of type List<Descriptions> i'm getting an error. says "it should implement IDatasource." something.
my column structure in the grid would look like this.
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="Key" HeaderText="Key" SortExpression="Key" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Name" SortExpression="Name" />
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Descriptions" HeaderStyle-CssClass="headerstyle">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:GridView ID="gv_descriptions" runat="server" DataSourceID='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Descriptions") %>' AutoGenerateColumns="false"
AllowPaging="true" EnableViewState="false" BorderStyle="None" GridLines="None" ShowEmptyTable="true" AllowSorting="true">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="Description" HeaderText="ShortDescription" SortExpression="ShortDescription" />
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
</Columns>

Handle the RowDataBound event, find the nested GridView and bind List<Descriptions> .
|

dear while binding grid you must be doing some thing like..
grid.datasource = obj so this obj is not iEnumerable or idatasource
might be you changing generic with something else..
type here obj.tolist() to make it ienumerable...

Aren't the PDB files designed for this purpose?

It will be stored in the Program Database file (.pdb file). A PDB file is created during compilation time from the source file and it contains all modules with their associated addresses and symbols. Stored data in a PDB file can be accessed and extracted by using DIA (Debug Interface Access). For more information on DIA, go to:

Hi There,
I want to know how to typecast date in javscript.
I had done as show below but when I assing date to systemDate then it shows value of
systemDate as invalid date.
Can anybody tell me what is the problem.
---------------------MyCode-----------------------
var systemDate1 = document.getElementById('<%=txtFollupDt.TextClientId%>').value;
var systemDate=new Date(systemDate1);
Thanks,
|
|
|
|
|
You have to assign date like this
var systemDate=new Date(year,month,date);
eg:
var systemDate=new Date(2009,4,18);
Cheers..!

Hello,
I would like to make a Bulletin Board with Repeater.
I know how to bind data to Repeater control.
Is there sample board used with Repeater??
Thank you.
Have a nice day.

If you know how to bind repeater and use it, what is the big deal in designing a bulletin board?

roguemat wrote: but instead what was in it initially.
Well, it looks like you are binding the DataList on page_load without checking Page.IsPostBack . So your data list will be regenerated on each refresh and all the values you typed will be reset.
roguemat wrote: string desc = ((System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox)e.Item.FindControl("TextEditDesc")).Text;
This code is error prone. If e.Item.FindControl will return NULL if it can't find the textbox. So you get a NullReferenceException . A better code involves some sanity checking. Something like
TextBox txt = e.Item.FindControl("TextEditDesc") as TextBox;
if(txt != null)
string desc = txt.Text;

Awesome answer. I feel like an idiot now for not seeing that :P
Didnt realise events ran on the next load I presumed it would be something like:
PageLoad -> Postback button pressed -> Method Run for button -> PageLoad-> etc
Thanks

In my dummy application, I added global.asax page and put a breakpoint in Session_Start method.
Control came to this method when application was brought up / run for the first time.
Thereafter when I entered a user id and password to start a session for the user, control never entered
the method session_start.
is this correct?
My requirement - whenever a user logs in get a certain information from the user's profile and save it onto a
static property. I thought I shall implement this is session_start, but the control never enters the method
session_start.
Please help me out.
Thanks,

Yes. It is behaving as expected.
NetQuestions wrote: My requirement - whenever a user logs in get a certain information from the user's profile and save it onto a

Is this information shared between all your users or only for the current user who logged in? You should know how static variables behave before you start using it. Static variables got more lifetime and it is shared between users. So the user information kept on a static variable will be visible to all the users on your website.
NetQuestions wrote: I thought I shall implement this is session_start, but the control never enters the method

Best place would be just after user authenticated. Once you authenticate user, take the necessary information and persist it. If information is only available to the current user, keep it in a session rather than static variables.
