Does anyone know how to implement Viseme events in Visual Basic 2005? I have the Microsoft SPAI-5.1 DSK for text-to-speech and voice recognition. What I want to do is create an animated face that moves it's mouth as if speaking while it is reading text-to-speech. This is on a Windows XP system, BTW.
I've read that the way to do that is through viseme events, but I have not seen a good example of how to do that, especially in VB.net. I've also read reconflicting information that says that viseme events may only be possible under Windows Vista.
Has any one used viseme events in VB? Or does anyone know a different way I can make an animated charactor sync mouth movements with spoke text-to-speech words?

I was doing some text parsing and I faced the issue below, I would like some one to explain to me from where the 42 is came.
' Add Text1 , at run time, write 123456
' Button Click
Dim _str1 = Me.Text1.ToString
Dim _str2 = Me.Text1.Text.ToString
Debug.Print(_str1.Length) ' Gives 42
Debug.Print(_str2.Length) ' Gives 6
6 is the length of text "123456"
I have Size = 78,20 : Max Length = 32767 : Margin 3,3,3,3 : Location 64,18 : Maximum Size 0,0 : Minimum Size 0,0
what is 42?

Me.Text1.ToString uses the ToString method of TextBox (all objects have a ToString method). The ToString method of a TextBox returns its name, something like 'MyApplication.MyNamespace.textBox1'. If you Debug.Print _str1 you will see exactly what it is.

I run debug and see "System.Windows.Forms.TextBox, Text: 928028" , I thought it is debug info not the real value.

If your application is a service, look up how to add it to the services from the help documentation of visual studio.
If you have a normal windows application (a form with buttons and such), add a setup project to your solution and add the shortcut to be copied to the Start up folder there.
My advice is free, and you may get what you paid for.

Hi,
You need to create a project, make sure you select a "windows service" template from the list of templates.
there will be certain settings that needs to be set up,
you can google for these options or use msdn.
try google: "create windows service in vb.net" there are alot of help there!

Hi to all,
I am facing this problem for a couple of weeks and not able to solve. Anyone please help me out.
I have 2 table (A and B) which are related with some foreign keys.
Now I want to update a column in table A, with the help of datagrid(since I want to update so many records together). But while showing on the data grid it should show the result of a join operation(because only table A doesnot give all information about the records).
Please tell me, what is the method to do so.
In short "I want to update the table with a querry of Join operation". or "Update multiple table with datagrid"
I am using MS ACCESS database

Define "doesn't work". What is the code supposed to do? What is it doing? What is it not doing?? Any error messages??
"Doesn't work" is like taking your car in for service and telling them the same thing. How are they supposed to know what it is your talking about??

I'm a newbie, but stuck in a loop on this one...
I'm trying to take 13 cards (Hearts 0 -12) which are already set up in design view and check to see if their tag number (also 0 - 12) is equal to the tag number of another 13 cards (Image 1 0 - 12) of another suit. How do I do this w/out the compiler seeing that both hearts and Image1 are already equal to each other.....I'll explain more...
such as:
For Index = 0 To 12
For NewIndex = 0 - 12
'I initialized this to go through the suits in a loop, but what I'm trying to do is see if the tags are equal, as in:
If Image1(Index).Tag = Hearts(NewIndex).Tag
Then.....yadahyadah
Else, yadahyadah
'But if I do this, then it will always equal, because the integers index and newindex were set to 0.....does this question make any sense?
I'm trying to loop through the cards and check to see if their tags are equal so I can do things with the cards...

nested for loops work like this:
for x = 0 to 9
for y = 0 to 9
do something here
next y
next x
The code at "do something here" will be executed 100 times, like so:
x = 0, y = 0
x = 0, y = 1
...
x = 0, y = 9
x = 1, y = 0
...
See?
If you set your loops up this way, you will definitely compare every item in X with every item in Y, but it's not particularly efficient. You probably want to stop processing once you find a matching tag?

I tried something like the following, but when I tried placing the Next, Next lines just below the 'Hearts(Index).Tag = Source.Tag, the compiler gave me an error 340, array element 13 does not exist. It doesn't when I place the Next's at the end. However, what happens at run time is the You're right always happens, and then the card I choose from the left (can be any card), would always appear on the right hand side in hearts(0) slot. I'm confused but think that since Index and NewIndex are set to 0, they will always match and always do vbenddrag, not vbcancel. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you.
