Hello,
I want to edit an existing app.config file with a modified url. The URL points to an intranet site which fetches list of documents.
If i copy the link from address bar(correct address) and paste in app.config to replace the existing url, i get errors. It says to use ; after some some particular words and if i do so, it says that entity not defined.
The updated URL is like this
http://XYZ/TestSoftware/buglist.cgi?query_format=specific&order=relevance+desc&bug_status=__all__&product=Test%3A+Application&content=
And the words are query_format,order, bug_status, product, content.
What to do?
Thanks in advance.

The app.config file is just an XML file. Therefore you have to respect all the rules that XML puts in place. You must escape certain characters such as & to &

Thanks a lot Colin.
I replaced & as you specified.
Thank you very much.

Hi All,
I have a windows appliation.
It creates problem when it runs with Dutch(Belgium) or some other language settings that set Decimal Symbol as Comma(,) and Digit Separator as Dot(.)
Due to such settings, number like 2.22 or 22.2 will be considered as 222.
Is there any way to run .net appliation under default English(US) settings irrespective of settings of Regional and Language Options? Without changing global settings on user's PC?
Regards,
-SIFAR.

Place this code under your main class.
System.Globalization.CultureInfo cultureInfo = System.Globalization.CultureInfo.GetCultureInfo("en-US");<br />
System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = cultureInfo;
happy coding...

Hi gurus,
I'm new to .NET Remoting and I have this problem.
I have an assembly, API.dll, that contains all the abstract functions and data classes.
I have a separate assemby, APIImpl.dll, that overrides the functions and data classes.
Let's focus on my this one:
One of my abstract data class in API.dll is read-only, meaning it only have the getter.
The setter of this data class is in APIImpl.dll.
I wanted to implement remoting to cater for some requirements. I made all my data classes Serializable. However, when i tried testing the remoting that i implemented, I encountered a SerializationException and the message is 'Unable to locate APIImpl.dll'.
From what I understand about remoting is that the implementation dll does not necessarily to be in the client machine. But base on the exception that I encountered, in the client application it's still searching the implementation assembly.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

A serialized class stores full names or your class and the properties of this class.
If your server serializes a class of your Apiimpl.dll than this assembly name is stored within the full name of the class. So for deserialization this assembly must be present on your client.
A common way is to use interfaces:
public interface IDataClass {
int DataField { get; set; }
}
public class DataClass: IDataClass {
private int dataField;
public int DataField { get { return dataField; } set { dataField=value;} }
}
So on your client is no code from your server. This works the best.
Try out the xml serialization to see and understand whats happened to your classes during serialization (search for XmlObjectSerializer in your msdn library).

hi occcy,
thanks for your explanation.
that's the way i understand it also.
but the current project that i'm working on, in the interface/abstract class they only have the get. then the set is in the implementation dll.
public interface IDataClass {
int DataField { get; }
}
public class DataClass: IDataClass {
private int dataField;
public int DataField { get { return dataField; } set { dataField=value;} }}
is there any tweak that i can implement for this to work in remoting??

EBD = Enterprise Database?
If so then you probably don't open the file per se. You need to open a database connection to it using an appropriate database provider.

using EnterpriseDB.EDBClient;
but it is saying that it is not found.
I am new to this.
The thing is i am doing it in compact frame work.

Hello,
I am trying to download not one, but all files within a remote directory using FTP and C# and then save them to a local folder on my hard drive. How can I do this?
|
|
|
|
|
First one find the list of files from FTP Server path then Use FtpWebrequest WITH Downloadfile method
Dim clsRequest As System.Net.FtpWebRequest = DirectCast(System.Net.FtpWebRequest.Create(ftppath), System.Net.FtpWebRequest)
clsRequest.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential(FTP_USERNAME, FTP_PASSWORD)
clsRequest.Method = System.Net.WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DownloadFile
If you can think then I Can.
|
|
|
|
|
See this example:
[^]
Get the file list from the directory, which you want to download, then download each file in that directory.
