In such cases it might be better to not actually delete the head message, but just replace it's contents with "Message Deleted"

After the recent malicious sick articles that were posted. I'd like to make a suggestion that if it continues to be a problem. That a quick "once over" system be implemented so Editors, SubEditors or approved folk can decide if an article is malicious to codeproject or not.
I'm not talking about editing, but purely allowing articles to be displayed by all in sundry could be a problem.

Hello Colin,
I think too much is being made out of an isolated incident. I mean it's not every day that someone posts 13 articles with goat-sex images. I do not think this will be a regular enough incident. And as you saw, in about 15 minutes one of the editors removed all those articles!
Just because one stupid pervert abused the submission wizard, there is no reason to spoil it for 100s of others who enjoy the instant-article facility available to them. In fact that's the best thing about the wizard, the fact that it is instant!

Nish

Nish, you are right. But: My fear is that it is going to be repeated. And thus an isolated incident it is no more.
I personally don't give a damm whether idiots do this, but I'd hate to CP's image tarnished by such incidents.

Just look at the number of trolls that frequent slashdot. If they all realised that they could post all of their nasty porn here, rather than just linking to it, we'd be in lots of trouble

I didn't see the offending articles (thank goodness), but I agree with Nish. I use the submission wizard all the time, and I'd hate to see it go.

I would like to see a preference in my profile that would allow me to set the default for the "Notify me by e-mail if someone answers this message" option when I post a message. I usually do not have the messages sent to my email so it would be cool to be able to disable it.
Otherwise I think the site is great! Keep up the good work
BTW, I usually do not use smileys in my chat sessions, but the emoticons are so cool at CodeProject

A few of us have programmed Palm apps, should CP have a Palm section? Its not exactly Windows, but you can use MSVC++, or VB to code most conduits and even the Palm app itself if you have the proper tools.
It may benefit the newbies (like Christian Graus).
I always wanted know more about something than him. Though my joy may be short-lived.

As with all things, if enough articles are sent to CodeProject then I'm sure that a new section would be created.

After a couple months of using the new smiley toolbar(which I love), I finally got bugged enough that I'm submitting a "trouble ticket". The Tounge sticking out smiley button doesn't work. It puts in a semicolon and an uppercase P. The forum scripts apparently don't recognize this. So everybody's just been putting a hyphen in between the semicolon and the P. Chris, could you fix this? Thanks.

It might be a good idea to add a forum talking more about lower level developement (device drivers, win32 API, kernel sync...)

Was it necessary to have flash advertisings? I just hate to hit 'N' everytime that anoying flash is loaded and IE asks me if I want to permit running it. (And, no, i wont allow automatic AX loading/scripting, I rather add CP to the restricted sites)

I believe I may have found a bug on the CP forum
If you change your name, then submit a message, then try to modify the message you can't as the password is invalid
I may have done something wrong, but I thought I should mention it after discussing this with David Wulff
Basically I changed my name from:
Peter Mayhew
to
Peter Mayhew
This was mainly as I was curious if the smiley face would appear next to my name in each posted message.
When I realised it didn't work, and it only printed the text " " next to my name i thought I’d remove it. But on doing so I was asked for my password. After several attempts I realised something was wrong.

I don't know really why this is, or whether it is intended behavior, but what happens is when you change your name on a post a random password is assigned to it. You can get this password by doing the "forgot password" link on the "enter password" page; it'll send an email to the account listed on your settings page with the password for that message, which you can then enter and edit the message.

Since changing my name back I am now able to modify all other messages. I only sent one message under this new name which was was merely a test message. So I’m ok now.
Obviously your aware of the problem I experienced since reading your reply message. Thanks for replying.
On another point, I thought that we were able to change our names to post anonymously. Would that mean that you would be given a new random password each time you changed your name to make an anonymous post?

I've never bothered to check, but my guess is each anonymous post gets its own password.

How do you compute status (i.e. bronze, silver, gold) ?
I have seen inconsistencies with this, I don't want to give names, but I have seen members labeled as "silver" but have only submitted around 40-50 message posts and 3 articles and under a year's time as a member.
On the other hand I've seen members over a year's time, and 30-40 messages and 1 article, but they are still "bronze" (should be silver due to +1 year membership).
Whatever the formula is, it should be consistent. I can provide examples, but would rather do that confidentially, I want to respect people's privacy.
Have a good day!

The tooltips for the links to the messagebords show the "subtitle" of the forum and in the lounge this looks like "For lazing about and discussing anything that takes your fancy. <b>No programming questions please.</b>"

When I typed some articles keywords to search some great examples. When I wanted to search again,
I found that I couldn't choose (or mark)any word to delete and re-input.
It makes me inconvenient to search again and again.
