You can set your page to be a fixed width, but of course, then it will not scale for a user with a bigger resolution ( or a smaller one ). If you must do this, then I suggest centering it, so it looks neat when you design for 800x600 and the user is 1900x1600. Of course, the ideal is to go with it, and design your pages so they resize nicely.

Hello guys, is there a way to load a project dynamically using the passed in parameters coming in from VB 6.0 code. Technically the project is not going to get loaded, the idea is that the constrcutor of the Com callable wrapper (that receives the parameters such as Assembly name) will then use the corresponding Web services class library. I wanna be able to call Creator.ActiveInstance() method or some other built in .Net API that can locate the write dll to load based on its name and path.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Tina

Well, whatever you're doing, it's obvious you're not doing it in ASP.NET.

Hello Christian,
Well yes and No...the front end (UI) is all asp .Net but as I said in my original post, it is a COM callable wrapper written in C# that deals with the web services moving forward. Not sure what you are trying to say....but if you are implying that I shouldn't have put it out here, well there wasn't any other category where I'd have this topic.
Also, is there an API (built in .Net class that lets you do that?
Thanks

Hello, no ideas for this yet?...
In my project, I use a javascript function to apply a number formatting mask to my textboxes, using its onKeyUp event.
I want to apply the same function to the textboxes (boundfields) that are shown when the gridview is in edit mode. The gridview is created dinamically, so I need a way to apply my function dinamically.
I already tried the BoundField.ControlStyle.AddAttributesToRender method with no success...
Can anyone help me??
Pehaps there's a better way to do the kind of mask I want, so if anybody knows I'd appreciatte.
Thanks.

What is the problem to doing this? On calendar click read the data and assign to textbox. If you want to avoid user entry, make the textbox readonly. Now, if this is an Asp.net text box, it will not send value to server on post back, if you make the textbox readonly.
You have two option to do,
1) use ContentEditable="False" , rather than readonly .
2) Read the texbox value before postback and store it in viewstate or hidden field and assign it after postback.
Cheers!!

Hi man, since it is MS Access so you cannot use trigger; For this
situations the best solution is to write a trigger.
Alternatively, write a program in c#, that will do the necessary task.
Write the program in the Form Load event so that the checking will happen
every time when the application will run.
Also create a table in MS Access with three fields say AdvertisementId , StartDate, EndDate.
So what will happen is that, everytime the form will load,the StartDate will be checked with end date corresponding to the Advertisement Id.
If the StartDate < EndDate, just update the StartDate by 1(i.e. 1 day will be incremented).
When StartDate = EndDate, execute the delete operation.
But always do it in the Form Load event
Hope this helps

I will recommend you to maintain a validTillDate flag in the respective table column for various advertisements. In the page when you are going to show the advertisement, just check whether the validDate flag is greater than the current date or not. If it is then simply don't show the advertisement. Deleting data from the table is not recomended from the future perspective. Hope this helps.

You may have a table called "tblAdvertisement" where you are storing all advertisements. This is the table from which you are also showing advertisments in the page. Now add a seperate column (of datetime type) called "validTillDate" column. Whenever you are inserting any record in the "tblAdvertisement", put a "validTillDate" for the advertisement. "validTillDate" simply stores the date till the advertisement will be valid and active.
When you are going to show advertisments on the page, check all advertisements' "validTillDate" column pick only those advertisement whose "validTillDate" column value is less than or equal to the current date. It will be best if you can check it in the sql statement itself. Just checkout the sample sql query:
select * from tblAdvertisement where validTillDate <= getdate()
I think this explanation should be enough for you to get started. There is no link and url that I can give to you as there is more logic invloved than coding. In case of any issue, revert back to us.

Hi I am Chinmay , i am using telerik Rad controls in my projects.
Problem : -
I have two fields in telerik radgrid. one is a readonly textbox with datetime value . other is a editable RadDateTimePicker.
Requirement - Whenever I change/select a date from RadDateTimePicker it should check whether the selecteddatetime is greater than the value present in the readonly textbox and popup a window with a simple message . All this we have to achieve through javascript and the validation should takes place as soon as we select a new value from RadDateTimePicker
I tried with SelectedDateChanged event of RadDateTimePicker but I am unable to access the javascript method attached to this event.
Can you please help me and if possible can you please post a sample code to achieve the requirement.
Thanks in advance.

Below is the add and get cache methods; however, the get method doesn't return any value. I have insured that the key (sessionID) is valid when calling both. Can someone help?
public Object GetCacheItem(string key)
{
return HttpRuntime.Cache.Get(key);
}
public void AddCacheItem(string key, Object value)
{
HttpRuntime.Cache.Add(key, value, null, DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(20), Cache.NoSlidingExpiration,
CacheItemPriority.Default, null);
}
Thanks,
Steve

I only ever access the cache item like:
object sessionObj = HttpRuntime.Cache[key];
'Get' sounds like it would do the same but I'm not certain.

1) Can we write javascripts for user controls?
2) Can i add user controls to a web page which uses AJAX Toolkit controls?
The problem that i am facing is, whenever i add the register tag in the page to register the user control, Visual studio hangs and further my machine does not responds, i have to restart the machine.
I don't know what is causing this....
Please if someone cud answer the above questions and also tell me how do i add the usercontrol on a page.
Thanks & Regards,

Of course.

Also, of course.
ASP.NET is just an engine for HTML and javascript. The end page does not care where the script came from . If you can't write your own AJAX, if you must let the toolkit do it for you, then you probably need to take some care not to stomp what it does with your script, that's the risk of using a black box. But, there's no reason you can't do it, and probably little chance you'll break anything.
Yadav Pramod wrote: and also tell me how do i add the usercontrol on a page.
The same way you always have. You're surely not playing with the AJAX toolkit prior to knowing how to define your own control ?
