Ok, I suppose I should preface my question by stating that I am a complete noob at this so keep that in mind
What is wrong with this line:
<h2><%= Request.QueryString("FirstName") %> <%= Request.QueryString("LastName") %></h2>
I keep getting this message:
Error 5 Non-invocable member 'System.Web.HttpRequest.QueryString' cannot be used like a method.
This line is nearly identical to an example I found on msdn. What am I missing here?
Thanks

I imagine the example was in VB, not C#

Because the "Request.QueryString("FirstName")" used "()", vs has it's a method. so your used "[]" and it's OK.

I have an application that is written in c++ and I have an asp.net webservice (c# behind) that has two methods. One of the methods is a file upload, where the goal is to pass a file via the web service to the application.
I have found various examples on how to do file transfers but my webservice will not have write permission to the machine. So I need to take the byte[] that is essentially the file, serialize it, and send it to my application.
I have the majority of the code but I am lost on two aspects:
1) I not sure how to take the byte[] and serialize it.
2) I am not sure what I would need to do in my C++ app to accept the serialized XML with the byte array, meaning how do I decode the byte array.
Any suggestions?

Are you sure you need to do all of this just to circumvent the permissions issue? I mean a simple permission change will solve the problem right?

I wish more than anything that I could implement the permission change. Unfortunately, the web service will be a corporate webservice applied in different locations and I have been mandated that there are to be no permissions in writing to the drive.

However you are going to write the the drive anyway by circumventing the problem with a Rube Goldberg[^] implementation? You gotta love corporate culture!
Good luck you're going to need it.

AlternatingItemStyle BorderStyle="Dashed" in Datagrid is not working in IE,
but works fine in firefox..Most of the properties like "AlternatingItemStyle-BorderColor, AlternatingItemStyle-BorderStyle, AlternatingItemStyle-BorderWidth" are not working in IE..

First of all, this is no ASP.Net question.
Did you check what properties are actually rendered by IE?
You can also use IE Developer [^]Toolbar to look at the different CSS styles and properties rendered.

Hi friends
I am new to Asp.net. I was studying page life cycle then i came accross this method
Addparsedsubobject()
-According to me this method is fired after control on page is parsed
-this method id fired recursively on all controls
-this method adds contrls to the collection of its parent.
question1:- Firstly i want to know that controls that are adding to colleciton are intialized with the value that we have defined in aspx page as attributes of control or they just contain the defualt value like null for object.
question2:-secondly, i have consfusing regarding creation of control's collection to hold the child controls. According to page life cyle article (http://skysigal.xact-solutions.com/Resources/Web/ASPNET/ASPNETPipeLine/tabid/484/Default.aspx) addparsedsubobject method is fired before the createcontrolcollection method. if createcontrolcollection is fired afterward the how can be add controls to control's collection becuse it is not created yet.
Please help me with it

Hi All,
I have a TreeView control which is populated dynamically.
1. Can anybody please advice me how to get the Event of Parent node click not Collapse or expand buttons of the nodes. As my submenu should appear when I click on the complete parent node itself not only on Collapse or expand buttons.
2. How can I get a node at client script which is populated dynamically. How can I retrieve its values in Javascript.
3. And my nodes should appear as Div or button. Means + and - symbols should not be separate from the nodes. And parent nodes background should be different from Child nodes background.
Can anybody please help me in doing this code. If it is not possible by using TreeView I am ready to do it by using Div or ImageButtons also. If posible give me a small code snippet for both Div or Treeview.
Thanks,
Md Abdul Aleem.

Hi Abdul,
(1)indian143 wrote: As my submenu should appear when I click on the complete parent node itself not only on Collapse or expand buttons
protected void TreeView1_SelectedNodeChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
TreeView1.SelectedNode.Expand();
}
(2) As far as second question please clarify more what you want at client side.
(3)
indian143 wrote: parent nodes background should be different from Child nodes background
Use something like:
TreeView1.ParentNodeStyle.BackColor = Color.Black;
TreeView1.ParentNodeStyle.ForeColor = Color.White;
TreeView1.RootNodeStyle.ForeColor = Color.Yellow;

Hi Himanshu,
That is done but it is working only on subnodes but not on parent node items. Can I catch any of the parent nodes clicking event.
One more draw back is user needs to click on only open and collapse buttons, in anyways can I make the same happens when I click on a partiluar node itself.
One more thing is I want the tree should occupy the whole Div instead of some part on it.
Can I do these things in anyway by using TreeView control.
Thanks a Lot,
Md Abdul Aleem.
