You can only use javascript to print the current web page. You could write script to do this, but it would be very convoluted. Basically, this is a bad idea.

Specify ByRef for the parameter.

in VB.NET, you can use ByRef instead of out parameter. Check it [^]

Hi all,
So its 3am and my brain seems to have gone to bed hours ago and left me with this nagging problem...
Basically what i'm trying to do is thus:
I have a gridview control on my page which has a delete button. When the delete button is pressed it comes up with a popup control to confirm the deletion. The best way i could figure out how to do this was by using the following within the columns
<asp:TemplateField ShowHeader="False">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButton1" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" CommandName="Delete" OnClientClick="return confirm('Are you sure you want to delete this item?');"
Text="Delete"></asp:LinkButton>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
All fine and dandy and it works fine....however! The client now wants to customize the popup confirm box which from what i have found isn't possible using the confirm box. What i'm wondering is would i be able to create a new form that works like a popup in which i can change the text, background etc since it would be a regular page but then pass the "confirm" back to the other page.
i know this is the asp.net forum and what i'm looking for is probably in the form of javascript somewhere but figured i would try here first.
Thanks in advance!

OK, I guess that you're new to all of this, if you didn't know that ?
Yes, you can create a popup window of your own design, and return true or false based on their input. There's a ton of articles on how to do that, on this very site.

Hi everybody,
please any one could tell me how I can use transaction for multiple records.
e.g. if I have a multiple check boxes selection and I want to save them all in database through transaction.
any Idea would be appreciated.
thanks

The big questions are:
1 - how does this relate to ASP.NET
2 - given that the answer to your question is 'to use transactions', is what you're really asking, is for someone to write you a mini article b/c you don't know how to use google and have no references ?
3 - do you understand what a transaction does for you in this instance ?

in a transaction you can send query.
then why not you use the insert query for checked checkboxes
using for loop or foreach

Hello,
I'm searching for a free dotnet based forum to download and install in my site, something nice with a nice admin area, like vBulletin or PhpBB.
preferred to work with MySQL, though it can work with MSSQL 2005\2008.
So far I've found DNN - however it doesn't meet my requirements, and some more numerous paid options.
I'd be very thankful for your recommendations and links
P.S I'd also appreciate message boards such as this one (codeproject), as long as it have a nice admin control panel
Thanks.

I hope this is the correct forumn for this. I also posted this question in the Web forumn.
I need to have the following functionality in my application.
The application is running as an NT service.
It was written using C# with .NET 3.5.
The application will read a record from a SQL Server database.
The record will provide a Method name, a return type and a list of parametes and their types.
The application will then generate a WebService with a WebMethod which matches the database record.
Now, any user can call the WebMethod.
Does this make sense?
I know how to create WebServices using Visual Studio and several other languages.
I need to create the Web Service on the fly.
In fact, I need to create one or more Web Services. Depending on how many records are in the database.
Any help would be greately appreciated.
Thanks

Ben,
This is quite interesting. Though it is not related with ASP.NET. I think you need pure C# coding for implement it.
BenClark wrote: The record will provide a Method name, a return type and a list of parametes and their types.
What about method defination ?
BenClark wrote: I need to create one or more Web Services. Depending on how many records are in the database.
1. Does your system will have Visual Studio in Production also ? This is I am asking becuase I am having some Idea in my mind.
2. What is the frequency of generating Web Services ?
3. Are you also looking for Deploy directly into IIS ?

I am wondering maybe using CodeDom to create the web service assembly and then creating the svc file. Then it would need to be posted to iis?? Just a quick thought I had about this subject the other day actually. I maybe wrong but this could possibly be an approach.

Thanks for the quick response.
The way I need it to work is as follows:
1. Using a text editor, a user creates a C# method. The method will have one or more parameters and a return type.
The user will save the code into the database.
2. The server application will read the code from the database.
3. It will compile the code into an assembly.
4. It will create a Webmethod to match the method description of the C# code it just compiled.
5. When a user calls the WebMethod using a browser, etc., the newly compiled
code will be called by the WebMethod which will process using the users compiled code and then return a result.
The WebMethods will be created once and will stay in place as long as the server application is running.
The WebMethods will be called many, many times by users/applications.
Their could be one or dozens of WebMethods created this way.
Visual Studio will not be installed on the server.
The server application will use the CSharpCodeProvider() to compile the code.
The server application will NOT know anything about the webmethods or the C# code.
It only know to fetch the code, compile it and create a WebMethod to call the code.
As far as using IIS, I would rather use
using System.Web.Hosting;
which will not depend on any Web Server of any kind.
I found an awesome example of this at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc163879.aspx[^]
Thanks

Then I think my idea will not work. I was thinking about, we should have a template Webservice On server. When we need to create a new WS, we will copy the template solution to separate location and will replace the code file which is generating through the database data and then build the whole application from the VS Command prompt.
But This is not a like to be a good idea.
I am on it. If I found some another apporches, will let you know.
