Well there is some unexpected thing i have encountered while programming in Visual C++ 6.0 under Windows XP. For example, windows standart looklike Button, is light oval shaped and it really differs from buttons in resource editor in visualc++. Even after compilation, the buttons (generally the controls) look like they are from win9x series of windows. Why? Can somebody help me to solve this as i think stupid problem? Example: Miranda compiled on VisualC++6.0 (XP os) has XP style Controls. Is there some definition or declaration that has to be done?

You need to create a ".manifest" file.

here's a tutorial how to do it, it's very easy

If you don't like this style in XP, stop the Themes service and then everything will look like 9x.

getenv , but I don't think you can get the processor ID with this method.

Didn't know that env variable existed! I've just tried it and it actually returns some info on the processor.

Do you have sample code to get the processor id (assuming it's enabled)? Code to enable it would also come in handy! Thanks,

const char * processor_identifier=getenv("PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER"); This variable is not available on every Windows OS (it is on my Windows 2000, and it is not on the Win98 system I've got home).

Hi Joaquin, actually I was looking for a wrapper for the ASM code that enables/disables advertising the processor id and also a way to read it from the chip (i.e. what Intel's utility does).

I've just run into voodoopriestess' (sic) CAMEL - CPU Identifier Class[^], which seems a far more powerful way to obtain info about current processor.

I've tried to convert an mfc dll project into mfc extension.
I keep getting the linker error saying DLLMain already exists.
I've looked everywhere for a #pragma comment(lib,"mfcwhatever") or any defines including the wrong library. (version7)
I've even tried copying all the code into a newly created extention mfc project without success, same error haunts me.
Anyone has faced and conquered this problem before me?

An MFC extension DLL does not have a DllMain, nor a CWinApp object, both of which are present in regular MFC DLLs. The DllMain comes from MFC, and an extension DLL uses the CWinApp of the EXE that loaded it.

I have a document with CEditView that I want to limit to 80 characters. i was thinking of adding a check where I update the row/column counter. However I'm not sure how I can insert a "\r\n" at that point in the document.
Any help? or better ways I can approach this.
Thanks a bundle.
