Why do you want to show javascript alert ?
If user is not authenticated properly show a nice message in Red color just below the Login box like "Username/Password is incorrect. Please relogin" as every site does.
You may have Forgot Password link as well.

This can be done by following ways,
GridView1.Columns[0].Visible = false;
or Set the Width=0 for that column.
Hope this will help you

Hi,
For a long time I am searching to create “NotifyIcon” from the ASP.net page in Client Machine. My background idea is; I want to call one web service using timer control; from this Notify Icon in client machine.
I could not find any direct way to create NotifyIcon using ASP.net. Today I got some idea, I am not sure am I in correct track or not..
Can I use .net “Activex Control” to create Notify Icon and putting that control in ASP.net page? Automatically when user opens my webpage it will install NotifyIcon and other functionality from that control to client page.
I am not exactly whether it works or not..! Can you please suggest how can I take this forward..
1.Will I get any security exceptions
2.Does it work on client machines where they do not have installed .net framework
3.Is there any other better approach to do this..
thank you,
-nm

You are asking about System Try Icon ? or you want to show some kind of notify popup to client browser ? You can look into it.

ASP.NET Popup Control[^]
ActiveX will only work on IE.

Use AJAX. and ASP.NET Popup control to notify.

i am asking for Tray Icon

As per my knowledge is concerned, No activeX/browser plugin allows you to popup a message in system tray.
The only possible wayout is to force the visitor to download an exe from the site and install it to show the website.
If your site has very attractive materials, the user may download the exe and run it to see the website. But most the users doesnt do that. So if you want to force, you may loose some users from visiting your site.
You can also it optional. Just make an executable, (In .NET if you wish) and use Notify Icon for this.
Hope this help you.

Hi, I wanting to know if the following is possible.
I have a ASPX page. In the page I want to use a SWF file, which is my game. In the game I have battle screens. What I am wondering is can I use a seperate SWF file for the LEVEL and BATTLE SCENE. So when the character enters the battle, the battle screen loads over the LEVEL swf and when the battle is over it loads back into the level SWF. Also how do I pass variables between the 2.
The reason I want to do this is becasue I will have many seperate SWF game levels and I dont want to have to put the battle screen in every single level, especially if I change the Battle screen a little.
Thanks in advance

This makes no sense. A page method will return whatever you say it will, string, int, etc. What are you trying to do?
only two letters away from being an asset

Hello,
I have a web page (in C#) that stores news and events. The data (news and events) is categorized by month. When the user visits the page, I would like to display the content of the existing month only. For example, the user will see.
August
event 1
news 2
July
June
May
April
I would like the user to be able to click on any other month to display the content of that respective month. Ideally, only one month should be expanded at a time (however this is not imperative).
Any help or assistance would be appreciated. If you need more information please let me know.
Thank you,
Allison

why dont you use Javascript to display / hide content.
Say you have used the html code block as below :
<div onclick="javascript:expandCollapsePane(this, 'dvContainer');">
August
</div>
<div id="dvContainer">
Event 1
News 2
</div>
Now when user clicks on the Div Pane named august you can make the container div visible true or false :
function expandCollapsePane(obj, pane) {
var containerPane = document.getElementByID(pane);
var isCollapsed = (containerPane.style.display == 'none');
if (isCollapsed) {
containerPane.style.display = 'block';
}
else {
containerPane.style.display = 'none';
}
}
The javascript just hides the dvContainer on click. To make all of them invisible when one is open, just create an array of all such elements you create and before expanding anyone of them do a for loop and hide each other element in the block.
Hope you understand.

Is there a way to always enforce the background on a webpage to print? IE has a setting so we can check it but if users don't have it checked can we programmatically control it?

You don't have any control on client browser. May be you can do it using some ActiveX injection. But, This will work only on IE.

I am not sure if it does so but might be using
@media print{
background-color:red;
}
Check

Hi all,
Im using JS to check the date and month validation. If i give 08-14-1949
the month value return as 0 not as 8 and the same problem for 09-14-1983.
These two month value is considered as 0. I cant resolve it. Please help me.
Code.
function checkyear(source, arg) {
var txtDOB = arg.Value;
var birthdate = txtDOB.split("/");
var yearvalue = parseInt(birthdate[2]);
var MonthValue = parseInt(birthdate[0]);
var DayValue = parseInt(birthdate[1]);
var date = new Date();
alert(yearvalue);
alert(MonthValue);
alert(DayValue);
var CurrentYear = date.getFullYear();
if (MonthValue < 1 || MonthValue > 12) {
alert(MonthValue);
source.errormessage = "Please enter a valid Date of birth";
arg.IsValid = false;
return;
}
if (DayValue < 1 || DayValue > 31 || (MonthValue == 2 && DayValue > daysInFebruary(yearvalue))) {
alert(DayValue);
source.errormessage = "Please enter a valid Date of birth";
arg.IsValid = false;
return;
}
if (yearvalue >= CurrentYear - 13) {
source.errormessage = "Your age should be greater than 13.";
arg.IsValid = false;
return;
}
else if ((yearvalue <= 1900) || (yearvalue >= CurrentYear)) {
source.errormessage = "Please enter a valid Date of birth";
arg.IsValid = false;
return;
}
else {
arg.IsValid = true;
}
}
function daysInFebruary(year) {
return (((year % 4 == 0) && ((!(year % 100 == 0)) || (year % 400 == 0))) ? 29 : 28);
alert(((year % 4 == 0) && ((!(year % 100 == 0)) || (year % 400 == 0))) ? 29 : 28);
}

Why do you require all this code??
Why dont you use
var myDate=new Date();
myDate.setFullYear(2000,0,23);
Now you can use
myDate.getMonth();
myDate.getDay();
etc.. and make your life easy.
On your case the Culprit is parseInt . It has a bug, if you parseInt(08) it returns 0 rather than 8.
The easy fix would be
parseInt(08 * 1) . This will fix your issue.
cheers..
