Thanks for the info. A friend and I were discussing this the other day and I said that there might eventually be a PHP.NET and he was very skeptical. He uses PHP and said that it wouldn't be well suited for .NET. Ha! Now I have one more thing to rub in his face! Ha!

There is PERL.NET so there's no reason why there won't be PHP.NET (especially since .NET has been ported to FreeBSD)

If you are refering to me, you are quite incorrect, you said i should go and make php.net, and I said 'how the hell can i do that.'. none of that not suited rubbish

PHP's a damn fine system, but there are already several fine message boards dedicated to it (as i recall; it's been a bit). I'd suggest for the time being you post PHP-related questions in the Web Dev forum; if there becomes a lot of them i'm sure it will be easier to argue for the creation of a PHP-specific forum.

Not sure if this has been suggested before but I would appreciate a Code Critique section.
A lot of photography sites have it. Basically you post your photo and offer it up for constructive critique. Other people then suggest improvements, tips and tricks etc.
CP is great for learning the how and what, but can be a bit lacking on the why side. To me a CC section would be valuable for the why side. e.g. Why and when an Engine Collection Class is suitable and not.
I am not sure if a forum would be the best way to present this, but it could be a start.

try it:
1) log yourself off from CP
2) click on "Who's Who"
3) enter the name "Peretti" into the "Filter by name" field and click "Refresh"
Thers is one member shown (first name Marco)
1) Log on with your CP account
2) click on "Who's Who"
3) enter the name "Peretti" into the "Filter by name" field and click "Refresh"
The is NO member at all.
Bug is: the drop down combo named "Order by" seems to change the meaning of the "Filter by name" field too. If you select order by name, then the mentioned user is found again.

That one is (as far as I can tell) usually the result of a timeout due to server load.

Just imagine around 15,000 people simultaneously yelling at our servers demanding their morning fix of CodeProject. I don't know whether it's just the light but I swear the database server gives me dirty looks everytime I wander past.

Is it possible to make the coockie based system also know when you last visited a specific forum and show how many new posts since you last visited it. The current since last date/time does not work so well as its applied to all forums. After visiting one you can't really tell if there have been any new posts in a different forum which you havn't looked at.
Currently, I try and remember the number of posts in each given forum and can approximately see whether there have been any new posts.

Is it true that authors can obtain the names of the people who rated their articles? Stephane Rodriguez said so in an answer to a post. If so, I can think of all sorts of uses for this knowledge. For those who rate articles 2 or 3, a DoS or spam attack may be appropriate. A 1 rating could earn a visit from the DC sniper, or at least a retaliatory 1 rating on all of their articles.
All kidding aside, authors should not be able to obtain this information. I believe secret rating is honest rating.

No. Members cannot get the names of the people who have voted for their articles. However, I do record this information so I can check up on voter abuse and ensure that you can only vote for an article once.

You see your member ID after you vote - just as a reminder that I am recording votes.
If you can find a way that shows how to determine who has voted on an article then I'd be interested to see. Not even my admin scripts currently allow me to do this
