Hi,
anyone can help for text file spliting ? issue is the text file is big in size and we need to remove first few lines for before we start spliting the file since it contains some header information such as date , time , file name etc say about 6-7 lines. so its creating problem otherwise all data with header line is in tab delimated format or any way we can skip those file using any script or remove them from the text file and create new text without header info.
with regards

hi guy,
1.) create a new textfile with System.IO.TextWriter stream.
2.) read your textfile with a System.IO.TextReader -> ReadLine() till you skipped your headerfile at i.e. line 6-7 in a loop while ((line = textReader.ReadLine()) != null) (count up to the line you want or check till your expected line reached...
3.) after you skipped the lines you want to, write all the following read lines to the textwriter stream -> textWriter.WriteLine(line)
4.) done reading the needed information close the textreader and textwriter -> .Close()...
5.) Finished
sooo far good luck

What are you doing with the file? If you're loading data into SQL Server with bcp, it can skip lines "[-F firstrow]"
|
|
|
|
|
could you please provide step on how to load in sql using -F first row , i tried but since the first few rows are not as header i mean they don't have tab seperated values they are just simple text where as the other lines in text file is tab seperated.

|
|
|
|
As I recall, it just tells bcp to skip some number of rows. Read the documentation and try it.

if you alternative please suggest , documentation is already through no solutions

Hi,
This Can Be done using String.Split('n')
i.e first read the content into a string say S then
String[] lines=S.Split('\n') will give you lines in the file.

Hi,
I would write and read HttpWebRequestStream asynchronously, but looks like the stream does not have BeginRead method.
HttpWebRequest webRequest = (HttpWebRequest)System.Net.WebRequest.Create(url);<br />
<br />
webRequest.Method = "POST";<br />
webRequest.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded";<br />
webRequest.SendChunked = true;<br />
webRequest.KeepAlive = false;<br />
<br />
MemoryStream ms = AddPostKeys(postKeys);<br />
totalSize = (int)ms.Length;<br />
webRequest.ContentLength = totalSize;<br />
Stream requestStream = webRequest.GetRequestStream();<br />
chunkSize = Math.Min(204800 , totalSize);<br />
if (ms != null) requestStream.BeginWrite(ms.ToArray(), 0, chunkSize, WriteCallback, requestStream);
I want to read this stream after each beginWrite. Basically I want to update UI as data is written to the request stream.
Thanks,
Veena

Hi there, I just need to edit the query below, i'm aware that the best place to edit the where clause is on the Select Expert, however that wont work for me.
I just need to remove the * on the where clause below
SELECT
InvoicesCreditsOrders.TypeOfReport, InvoicesCreditsOrders.Isbn, InvoicesCreditsOrders.CustNo, InvoicesCreditsOrders.CustRef, InvoicesCreditsOrders.OrderDate, InvoicesCreditsOrders.InvDate,
CustMaster.Custno, CustMaster.Custname, InvDelAddr.DelivCustname
FROM
CATAPULT.dbo.InvoicesCreditsOrders InvoicesCreditsOrders,
CATAPULT.dbo.ItemMaster ItemMaster,
CATAPULT.dbo.CustMaster CustMaster,
CATAPULT.dbo.InvDelAddr InvDelAddr
WHERE
InvoicesCreditsOrders.Isbn *= ItemMaster.Isbn AND
InvoicesCreditsOrders.CustNo *= CustMaster.Custno AND
InvoicesCreditsOrders.ProcessNo *= InvDelAddr.ProcessNo AND
InvoicesCreditsOrders.DeliveryNo *= InvDelAddr.DeliveryNo AND
ItemMaster.Filename = 'SA' AND
InvoicesCreditsOrders.TypeOfReport = 'INVORD' AND
(ItemMaster.StockReport = 'RSL' OR
ItemMaster.StockReport = 'PST' OR
ItemMaster.StockReport = 'O/P' OR
ItemMaster.StockReport = 'NRR') AND
CustMaster.Company = '03'
ORDER BY
CustMaster.Custno ASC,
InvoicesCreditsOrders.CustRef ASC,
InvoicesCreditsOrders.Isbn ASC
Please assist.

You might get very, very lucky and find somebody that knows what the hell you are talking about.
On the other hand you might try to reword your question so that it makes sense.
Event log - of/for what?
What is the code that causes this.

Me and a few people are working on a project and i was wondering is there a way we can both work on it at the same time? We have to keep sending each other the updated codes once one person has finished working so the other person can work on it to, But we are only able to have one person working on it at once because all the updates wont be in the same source file....
Can anyone help us out with this?

You could try rootjumper's suggestion, or CVS[^], or Perforce[^]. A lot depends on how many people are working on the project, and how large the project is.

0) Break the file into workable chunks.
1) Use "Add as link" to refer to the same file.
2) Use a version control system.
3) Don't use Visual Studio.

If twoo persons are working on the internetwork and they both working on the same project then they can also use the subversioning for the code sharing purpose or any alternative is available.

Probably not practicable with source files on an existing project.
PIEBALDconsult wrote: 1) Use "Add as link" to refer to the same file.
I've not heard of this, can you explain?
PIEBALDconsult wrote: 2) Use a version control system.
Agreed
PIEBALDconsult wrote: 3) Don't use Visual Studio.
Why not, I've used it quite successfully with CVS in the past?

Richard MacCutchan wrote: Probably not practicable
Sure it is.
Richard MacCutchan wrote: I've not heard of this
In a Solution Explorer, you can right-click to "Add | Existing item..." to a Project which brings up a dialog box, you select whatever existing files you want to add. Then, rather than clicking the Add button, click the arrow on the Add button and click "Add as link".
So, the developers can have a common set of code somewhere, and have their projects refer to the files without making local copies. When one developer saves changes, the other(s) will be notifiied to reload that file.
Richard MacCutchan wrote: Why not
Mostly (in this case) because it always wants to make local copies of stuff.
Another option would be to have the source code and projects in a common place and have the developers share the projects directly.
