Hi,
My application creates an access (*.mdb) file and once the file is created, i try to launch (open) the access file through my application itself. I have used Diagnostics.Process.Start(FileName) to launch the file.But i find that in some machine when i try calling this method, the file gets opened but inturn i also used to get some win32 exception messages. Please help as to why this occurs

1. Help needed is not a good subject.
2. What is the exception you get? Did you searched the error message in Google?
It's not necessary to be so stupid, either, but people manage it. - Christian Graus, 2009 AD

What exceptions? Did you try creating and launching an instance of access on a machine that does not have it installed?

I have a application wherein database is located on server and there are client computer which access the central database server. How to handle a situation when more than one client tries to access the same data table on the server. I'm using SQL Server 2005. It it internally handled in SQL 2005? or i need to handle in my C# code?
Please help

In SQL, you can use Transactions to manage concurrency during operations. You can also lock entirely a table during an inret or update by using the WITH TABLOCK clause at the end of your query.
If you want to do it in your C# code, look at the TransactionScope class.

With a transaction, as mentioned, but clients can still use WITH(NOLOCK) in a SELECT statement to ignore your lock when reading.

Hi guys
i have built my own socket program which runs through Tcp/ip and every things work fine. However, i don't really know how can i download random files from my server by using windows directory. let me make this clear imagine that you have a client connecting to the server that is exist on your mum's computer and you really want to download the file from your mum's computer documents but you don't really know where is it exactly on the documents. It might be on the picture folder or may be it's on the music folder. Therefore, I'm trying to run my directory and search for it like I'm working on my mum's computer.
Please i would appreciate it if anyone help me to figure this out even if he/she gives me a link to a book or open source code even if it's on c# that's fine.
thanks alot

Then you need some program on your mum's computer that will do the directory search and return the information you require. However not many computer users would be happy for some remote machine to start poking about their directories. It's why we all have firewalls!

My requirement is to develop an application which can be run from central networked computer.
My idea is to install SQL database on central computer(server) i.e to have database located on the server, and install C# windows application on one or more client machines. All the client machines will store/retrieve database from the server.
Is this option better or creating a WebSite and installing this only on central server. All client can access using the link through browser.
I feel Windows application will be much faster compared to Website
Please suggest me which would be the best choice.
Thanks in advance

This belongs in the Design and Architecture forum
This is a VERY subjective issue, my opinions:
If you meet the following criteria
1. are inside the firewall (and do not have domain issues between users)
2. can use clickonce deployment
3. have reasonably standard hardware platform (no macs, no old 386's)
then a winforms solution will be faster and give the users a richer experience (I hate that expression)
If even 1 of the above is missing then a webforms solution will be easier to implement.

Clarify what you want - read a report definition file does not make sense.

Basically i want to export my Crystal report data into Excel format when i do this i'm getting some format issues. To avoid this i want to write my own customized export option. Im using Crystal Report XI R2 version.

This is one (of many) reasons we went to Reporting Service, we could find no acceptable solution to CR => Excel formatting issues.
You are trying to read the report definition file and thinking you can reproduce the report from that, you can't, not from a CR it is a closed, proprietary format that cannot be extended outside of the CR tools. To do this you would basically have to rewrite CR and I would not wish that on anyone.

But using all these i can able to read the columns and field names
using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer;
using CrystalDecisions.Shared;
private ReportDocument rptDoc = new ReportDocument();
rptDoc.Load(reportFileName);
I'll be able to access the data also? If so how to do that?

This is what happens when you copy code blindly off the web and don't understand what it does. As someone else said, you need to post code, but you probably also need to work through a C# book so you better understand the code you're working with.

Hello everyone, I am trying to make csv file as good as excel file. For examle, column should be separated based on ','.
I know how my data comes. it always comes with coma (',')separated. I want to put each coma separated value in each column like excel file.
Thanks in advance.

I don't understand any of this. A CSV IS a comma separated file. Excel can open those files. What is your question ? You have columns where ? On your form ?

CSV files is nothing but a file where data are separated by comma.....When you open CSV file in Excel it will auto separate the column by using the deliminator.
Thanks

HI Marufuzzaman, I am getting data using deliminator (,), but I don't get those coma separated value in a separat column in excel file. I think the entire text goes to column "A1"
<br />
foreach (string word in strMessage.Split(','))<br />
{<br />
CSVwriter.Write(" " + word);<br />
CSVwriter.Flush();<br />
}
If you know why it does not work please let know
thanks
