You can easily call server side static method, pass some value to it and get the returned value on your page without page postback.
You can write a static Method in your Code-File with:
[System.Web.Services.WebMethod]
public static string MyMethod(string value)
{
return SomeString;
}
Use Script Manager with PageMethods Enabled.
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnablePageMethods="true"/>
Now you can call your server side method with:
PageMethods.MyMethod(valueToPass, ChangeDDLValue, EnableDDL, dest);
for details please go Google about Ajax PageMethods.
Hope this will help

Hi Thanks a lot,
I am using windows application which adds the scripts dynamically using BHO object and identifies the click even of the link.and actually i cant create the files in local disk from javascript(because of the security issues) so i thought of calling a c# method. then i realized that it cant be done.but we can call a webservice which can manipulate my data from javascript.
Once again thanks for the solution.

Hi,
Are you using visual Studio 2008

Hitting the database every time the user changes cell value will not be a great idea. I suggest to have a save button or something of that sort in your form. On click of that button you can update the values back in the database. You can find lots of examples for saving data back to database on web.

thank's for the help
what i need to do ?
after i change cell value, i need to run over the datagridview
and update the database ? this way ?
can i get sample code for this ?
thank's in advance

Not exactly. Let the user make changes in the values. And when he/she is done, have a save button to send the updated data back to database. You will need to handle the click event of the button and update the data in your database.
As far as sample code is concerned, this is a bit trivial thing. So, a quick search with correct keywords would give a lot of samples to you.

Hi guys,
I have a requirement to look at extending functionality of a custom Store. The store contains a tree, and what my client needs to happen is that once a folder is selected then either a VS form containing a web control, or a browser, is displayed filling the right hand pane of the screen pointing at a custom page on their intranet.
I am struggling to find if this is possible within Outlook 2003 and where to start looking.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Stuart

Your problem description implies this is a web issue; could you clarify what this has to do with Outlook?

I need to click on a folder within an Outlook (specific) Store and display either a browser, or a .net form containing a browser in the right hand pane of outlook....

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do. Can you explain what code you are using and how it interfaces with Outlook?

Hi,
I know generics had come after StringCollection, but is there any major difference why we should go for List<string> and not the other...or vice-versa..

Priya.

This question would be more likely to get an answer if posted to the ASP.NET forum.

The description of your problem suggests a web application. The code you posted suggests javascript. I see nothing to indicate a console application, whether C# or any other language.

Hi,
My application creates an access (*.mdb) file and once the file is created, i try to launch (open) the access file through my application itself. I have used Diagnostics.Process.Start(FileName) to launch the file.But i find that in some machine when i try calling this method, the file gets opened but inturn i also used to get some win32 exception messages. Please help as to why this occurs

1. Help needed is not a good subject.
2. What is the exception you get? Did you searched the error message in Google?

What exceptions? Did you try creating and launching an instance of access on a machine that does not have it installed?
