Unlike Oracle where it uses scott/tiger, as Marc says, SQL Server has no default. I don't even think you can use a blank password for the sa account.
only two letters away from being an asset

Nothing default with SQL Server. You can set it during installation of SQL Server which would be on SQL Server Authentication Mode. You can also select the Windows Authentication mode.

Hey friends I am developing web page for some music production. What I wanted to ask is, there are a lot of links for a lot of lyrics. If I put the lyrics with their file name and when the user presses the link it reads the file and displays on a new page. But this is really bad(too slow). So I decided to do like CODEPROJECT's site did. i.e when we click one question(or answer) on a thread it display the message @ that page with in a fraction of mili second. So can any body help me how to do that so that I can display the lyrics next to the song as CodeProject's thread did?
I hope I will get some helps soon. Thank you

I would like to pull league and tournament statistics from the EA sports servers. How would I go about trying this? The information is there as it is displayed on the X-Box, so I know it is passed somehow. Has anyone done this or know where to start?

If you know the URL to the page that displays the statistics, you could write an applicaiton that retrieves the entire page, then you would parse through the HTML to get the data you are looking for.
My company blocks "sports" websites, so I can't even look at it.

So I am a web designer. I design layouts for other people, but don't do any of the server side scripting.
I am trying to set up a website and all I want is a simple HTML form that will record a user's Name, Email Address, and Phone Number. I've been searching through tutorials for the easiest way to do this. I don't want that info to go to a database, I just want to to automatically email it to me. I don't want it to open up a "mailto" script and use the individuals email account, I think there's a way to set it up using PHP or ASP or something.
Remember, I have no database experience, but I know my server can host them.
Ideas? Can someone give me a simple php code or something that will email me when someone fills out my form? Or am I going to have to set up a database and stuff like that.
Thx guys,
Benji

Here is a piece of ASP.net code that you could use to send an email.
Private Sub MailIt(ByVal toUser As String, ByVal fromUser As String, ByVal subj As String, ByVal sBody As String)<br />
Try<br />
Dim mm As New MailMessage(fromUser, toUser)<br />
<br />
mm.Subject = subj<br />
mm.Body = sBody<br />
mm.IsBodyHtml = True<br />
<br />
' Create the SmtpClient object<br />
Dim smtp As New SmtpClient<br />
<br />
' Send the MailMessage (will use the Web.config settings)<br />
smtp.Send(mm)<br />
Catch ex As Exception<br />
' Put some error handling code here<br />
End Try<br />
<br />
End Sub
In your web.config, you put the details of your email server ...
<system.net>
<mailSettings>
<smtp>
<network host="myMailServer.com" port="25" userName="myUser" password="myPassword"/>
</smtp>
</mailSettings>
</system.net>

Hi All, I need my users to be able to check options for days during the month, and I have been able to add a CheckBoxList to each day of the month in the Calendar control, that was the easy part. Now, here's where my difficultly begins; Once the user clicks a save button to store their selections, I can't figure out how to get access to the CheckBoxLists again to read their checked state. I can't find them in any of the Calendar's control collections nor can I find them by using FindControl method. Please Help! Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys,
I am asp.net 3.5 and just downloaded the free HTML editor which I downloaded from this link - http://www.codeproject.com/KB/ajax/HTMLEditor.aspx
My questions are:
1. I actually placed the Winthusiasm.HtmlEditor control in one of my asp.net pages inside the ContentPlaceHolder1. And since I am using CSS, the problem is that, the HTML codes which I pasted in this control does not link to my CSS, so when I clicked on "Design" tab, the result is not good. Do you think this HTML Editor is not capable of reading CSS file?
2. In "HTML" tab, if I change something in the text, how am I going to pass the value from Editor.text to Textbox1.text? Because, I will just simply code it like this (below), it doesn't work.
Textbox1.Text = Editor.Text; // this code does not work; It doesn't show the latest changes.
That's all I wanted to know guys. Please help.
If you know other Free html control for asp.net 3.5, please let me know.
Thank you.

I have little experience about hosting and working on that.
I am good in coding, currently working on a JSP + HTML Project.
I wanted to know some good and free web hosting site for the requested platform.
I have tried
www.co.cc
www.000webhost.com
www.0fees.net
But doesn't know whether they work fine for JSP as they support PHP.
One more thing ----I wanted to know, if get a hosted site, will i be able to get its SMTP server for free, to send mails, because this is important feature of my project.

Hello there fellow users, I have been entrusted with the task of designing and implementing a financial system for a charity foundation where I live.
The charity foundation requires its work (addition and retrieval of records, for example) to be done online, using a web app. The app connects to a database server for storage and the charity's numerous branches connect to the central database center.
So what I would like to ask for is guidelines and suggestions on what technologies to use to accomplish this task:
- A suitable, well-supported and secure programming language or framework for the web app. (ASP.net or JSP for example)
- A suitable and secure database system (MySQL for example) that supports Arabic records.
- Methods, guidelines to implement critical security measures.
Although we have worked on similar projects before, the level of security and accuracy wasn't as critical as for a project such as this; that is why I'm asking for guidelines from the experts here.
This post may not be as detailed as it should, but I'm happy to listen carefully to any suggestion or guideline.
Thank you.

Hi Guys,
I have a problem here and I don't know if why does the Literal1 control in MasterPage.Master will not change the value.
What I am currently doing is to call the Litera1 control of MasterPage.Master from the content page. And when I tried this one I got an error that says - Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I really don't know why does the calling Literal1 control when call at runtime and change the value of it, it just didn't reflect the changes, and I even got an error that says - "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I am stuck with this portion. I pasted below here a sample of asp.net/C# source codes. Actually the error is pointing here ltlBodyTitle.Text = "<b>hello</b>";
MasterPage.Master:
<%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.cs" Inherits="MasterPage" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server">
<title></title>
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="head" runat="server">
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
</head>
<body>
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<div>
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server">
<asp:Literal ID="Literal1" runat="server"></asp:Literal>
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
</div>
</form>
</body>
</html>
----------------------
Content Page should change the value of Literal1.text which was placed in the MasterPage.page. But it won't.
Below is the finding of Literal1.text and suppose should change new value.
Test.ASP.aspx.cs source codes.
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
public partial class test : System.Web.UI.Page
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Literal ltlBodyTitle = (Literal)Master.FindControl("Literall1");
ltlBodyTitle.Text = "<b>hello</b>"; // Error here in this line
}
}

What is the error ? I assume a null reference ? We have an ASP.NET forum, you know.
This sort of code is ugly as sin. You should try to never do this. Instead, create a base page that returns a strongly typed version of your master page, and use it's methods to set things like this.
