This is a statement, not a question. But I'll take a whack at it anyway, and try to guess what you're trying to ask.
I'm guessing that you're looking for a way to avoid using the built-in Administrator account for your application. You can use Windows Authentication and assign access rights to users there, or you can create a new user in SQL Server Express and use that account for access. I believe you can assign Roles to users in SQL Server; Administrator would not be my first choice, unless you need this account to have full control over everything in the server. You might want to spend a few nights reading up about users and roles in the online help system before you jump into anything.
And no, I'm not an expert, but a newbie like you, as you can tell from the dumb question I'll be posting as soon as I submit this. But I have spent some time studying, and it's definitely worthwhile.

The problem ( or my be not ) is that you need administrator right to perform hard or soft maintenance in XP SO. and I want avoid that maintenance team have access to the databases. As we know BUILTIN\Administrator is derived from windows access rights. I've created a Sql login account with sysadmin rights but i can't to change permissions of BUILTIN\Administrator( for ex. avoid to init session). I don't know how do that..... thanks.

Date values have no format, they are just numbers. It is only when they are displayed that you apply whatever format you want.

You can use the below queries
SELECT DATENAME(MM, GETDATE()) + ' ' + CAST(DAY(GETDATE()) AS VARCHAR(2)) AS [Month DD]
SELECT REPLACE(RIGHT(CONVERT(VARCHAR(11), GETDATE(), 106), 8), ' ', '-') AS [Mon-YYYY]
For more information kindly refer to link

SELECT REPLACE(RIGHT(CONVERT(VARCHAR(11), GETDATE(), 106), 8), ' ', '-') AS [Mon-YYYY]
Neither of these give the OP what they asked for.
The first gives "October 21" the second "Oct-2009"

Try using
SELECT DATENAME(MM, GETDATE()) + ' ' + RIGHT(CAST(YEAR(GETDATE()) AS VARCHAR(4)), 2) AS [Month YY]
This will give the result in the desired format

casting will make it slow

Most larger databases have backup functionality builtin.
What database are you using?

You should probably check with your dba . One possibility could be the logs are full, another may be that you are waiting on a lock... Which DBMS are you using? Which version, and what is the SQL error number you are getting?

Hi All
Would you please help me, I have a stored procedure that calls a function within it. It is working fine when pointing to production database, but when
I change my connection to point to QA it raises an error. I have copied both the stored proc and the function from production to QA but still.
The error that I get is "A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate"
I am using SQL Server 2008 full version.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Are you getting the error in the client app or actually in the stored procedure. The dot net error indicates either the client has a problem or you have the CLR integration in SQL server turned on .
Either way without more detail cannot help.

Hi RAH
Thanx for the reply. I actually get this error even when I manually execute the stored procedure in SQL Server.

Then I would think the function is a CLR function and there is a bug in there. Never having used the CLR in SQL Server I do not know how you debug such a beast.

I have one sql server 2005 database and its size is 16 GB , i rebuild indexes on a table which is having size almost 12 GB (item Master)
* i know its not normalized but i get the db in this condition
dbcc dbreindex (item_master,'',80) and now size becomes 26 GB should i shrink database or physical files showing 50 % free space available.
what else can i do to increase the db speed , already check ,Disk I/O , Memory , temp DB , network Packet size.
Planning to do
UPDATE STATISTICS item_master
dbcc updateusage ('DB')
DBCC INDEXDEFRAG (DB,'item_master')
DBCC dropcleanbuffers
dbcc freesystemcache ('all')
dbcc cleantable (DB,'item_master') --
Anything else which can speed up the things from database point of view

How many rows are in the table? How many fields? What kind of data is it? Are your indices appropriate for the way you are wanting to extract the data? Can you update the structure to improve the performance or are you stuck with it?

Hi,
I have a database on webserver, when some one gives any order from website then data comes into this database. Now i'm fetching these data from websercer to our local machin's dataabse. for this purpose i'm using en exe which contains stored procedure for fetching the data.
These stored procedures takes 5-7 min to fetch the data from webserver. Now the problem is that at the time of execution of stored procedure no one can give the online order because of database busy.
My question is that how i can improve the system so that one can give online order at the time of execution of stored procedure.
Thank you..
