How do you find the filesize of a page (hosted on another domain) without triggering the "Access Denied" error?
I came up with a few methods, none of which works:
1. using XMLHTTP
<br />
objHTTP = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");<br />
objHTTP.Open("head", "someurl", false);<br />
size=objHTTP.getResponseHeader("Content-Length");<br />
this gives access denied as the url is on another domain.
2. Using iframe and point to the site, then using document.fileSize gave the same error too.
Please advise.
Thanks

I am in need of a method to hide or encrypt some Client side VbScript. I have seem some encrypted code but do not know how that was done. I can not seem to find anything on this.
Any Help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

afaik u cant encrypt client side vbscript (or any other client side script) cos the browser doesnt know anything about encryption for those things
u can obfuscate the code but ultimately u cant really protect anything client side 100%
if its so secret it should really be server-side

It is for an intranet app and not really that secret. No one would be trying to hack the page I just do not want it to be that easily accessible to the user.
Thanks

What is the best way to communicate between ASP.NET (VB)and a GemPlus smart card reader running on Windows clients? The client can communicate via a Web Service passing a DataSet at card insert/read time. But, the website works with and updates the data sometimes over a 30-60 minute period. Due to the length of processing time, I'm not sure that an asychronous web service call will work well even if multi-threading. Is there a better way to notify the client from the webserver and pass back the dataset in order to write back to the card.

I have ran into a situation where a alert('test') type practice would make more sense. It works great in IE, but i'm not sure if any other browsers would have problems with this...??
There place inside various tags through the web site...and it's not actually alert('test') it's setting a cookie, becuz at this point i've already sent headers and PHP won't let me set cookies using it's functions...
Any suggestions...?
Thanks
How do I print my voice mail?

if ur having problems outputting headers in php either re-structure ur code to output the header first or buffer the output until after u write the headers

I had IIS installed on my windows 2k pro, and was up and running till very recently. Now I am getting an error message that my server is not accessible. I am not able to create or open any of my web projects.
I tried reinstalling IIS, but it didnt help.
I also tried reinstalling the Visual studio.Net, still nothing is happening. Now i guess i will have to reinstall windows to get this fixed. which i may do it tmrw. could some one tell if there is a fix for the problem,
I really am not willing to reinstall the Operating System.
Please Help Me..

Did you recently run anything like the IIS Lockdown tool or the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer or did you remove or disable any of your local computer accounts, such as ASPNET, IUSR_<machinename> or Administrator?

hi,
I dont remember having made any configuration changes to my user accounts, as well as windows. the only change that might have happened on my computer, is I have installed a few programs. thats all.

...and I'm assuming you've stopped and started services on your local instance of IIS and that there aren't any other issues that've popped up recently?
Can IIS even serve an ordinary HTML page from the default web server, i.e., from wwwroot?

Hello everybody! =)
I have a rather irritating problem.. I'm designing a homepage with two frames. One top frame with some kind of a navigation menu in it, which I want to be centered vertically in the frame, no matter what text size is selected in IE/other browser. Can it be done with a simple selector or something in CSS, or do I have to use some dynamic coding to move it when the frame has loaded or something?
Thanks for any help or suggestions! (as long it's not about removing the frames entirely

As far as I'm concerned you HTML does not provide for vertical alignment (in accordance to the HTML 4 spec at least). But what you can try is either build a frameset into the menu frame, where you place 3 rows like and specify the sizes like this: rows="*,15,*". Then the two "buffer" frames will ensure that your middle frame is displayed vertically centered.
If you don't want to mess around with frames, you can try it in a table, but you'll get problems getting this x-browser ready. I've done it a couple of times but IE on Mac always screws it up. As height for the top and bottom table row (the buffers) provide a "*". But I've warned you, this works only it a couple of browsers

I'm fairly new to ASP so forgive me! I have a access database, I want to create a form that has three fields (tapename, backupdate, returndate), I want to have a checkbox that when checked gives you an option to add more items... i.e. If I have three tapes to enter into the database, I want to be able to add all three at once. any ideas would be great. thanks in advanced.

I am not sure what you're driving at; code examples, if you have any, are always a helpful starting point in any discussion. If you haven't written any code yet, try to find another similar example here on CodeProject or another ASP-specific site. In general though, yes, it is feasible to produce a page that posts back to itself and waits for you to make another entry after saving the last entry, or to build a page that contains a table filled with rows of text boxes that you iterate through to add multiple records.

the easiest way to do multiple upload type things is to allow for say 5 or 10 at a time and build the control on the page as normal ... on the submit just cycle thru looking for non-empty entries

I tend to agree with Lauren. Make something like this:
<form method="POST" action="thispage.asp">
<table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0">
<tr>
<td>Tape Name</td>
<td>Type</td>
<td>System</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<p><input type="text" name="T1" size="20"></p>
</td>
<td><select size="1" name="D1">
<option value="1">Type 1</option>
<option value="2">Type 2</option>
<option value="3">Type 3</option>
</select></td>
<td><select size="1" name="D4">
<option value="1">System 1</option>
<option value="2">System 2</option>
<option value="3">System 3</option>
</select></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><input type="text" name="T2" size="20"></td>
<td><select size="1" name="D7">
<option value="1">Type 1</option>
<option value="2">Type 2</option>
<option value="3">Type 3</option>
</select></td>
<td><select size="1" name="D9">
<option value="1">System 1</option>
<option value="2">System 2</option>
<option value="3">System 3</option>
</select></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><input type="text" name="T3" size="20"></td>
<td><select size="1" name="D8">
<option value="1">Type 1</option>
<option value="2">Type 2</option>
<option value="3">Type 3</option>
</select></td>
<td><select size="1" name="D10">
<option value="1">System 1</option>
<option value="2">System 2</option>
<option value="3">System 3</option>
</select></td>
</tr>
</table>
<p><input type="submit" value="Submit" name="B1"></p>
</form>
Then, when you post, check each of the textboxes and each of the drop down lists to determine if a value was entered or not.
Yes, you could also use a checkbox that asks "enter more values" but that could get repetitive for the person using the app.
