You'd think that is a good question, but I have proven many times that they are liars, or just plain have no idea what it is they restrict.

I need to know what cookies use certain web site.
I heard about HTTP Header plugin , that can show all HTTP headers during site browsing, form submission, etc. But cannot find it at the moment.
Or maybe exist any other solutions ?
Thanks

Hi guys!
I can't figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong. I'm making a (hoping to at least) simple function that will take a white border and fade it to black on a mouseOver. Here's what I have so far:
<script type="text/javascript">
function animation(object, direction, number) {
if (!number) {
if (direction == "out") number = 255;
if (direction == "in") number = 0;
}
var color = "rgb(" + number + "," + number + "," + number + ")";
object.style.borderColor = color;
if (direction == "out") {
if (number == 0) return;
var newNumber = number - 1;
window.setTimeout(animation(object, direction, newNumber), 500);
}
if (direction == "in") {
if (number == 255) return ;
var newNumber = number + 1;
window.setTimeout(animation(object, direction, newNumber), 500);
}
}
</script>
Now, what happens (when I use the debugger in visual studio 2008), the function executes correctly until the number variable gets to 255. At 255, the system does see the if (number == 255) return; part and appears to execute it. What happens after that when I hit F11 to continue stepping into the code, it jumps down to the window.setTimeout line again and tell's me there's an invalid argument. What's really weird, is that the number variable has now gone back to 254! I've even tried changing the if statement to stop at 250 and other various numbers, but it still seems to subtract a number and then give me the failure insted of stopping execution. Looking at other setTimeout examples, I also tried different syntax including wrapping the function in quotes, but this is the only way I've been able to get it to actually call the function. Wrapping it in quotes seems to just jump to the next line and return. I'm still fairly new to javascript, so I wouldn't doubt that there's something wrong with the flow of my logic, but I'm to the point where I feel like I'm not getting anywhere. Hopefully another set of eyes might see what's not obvious to me.
Thanks!

window.setTimeout needs a function-"pointer" as first argument. If I'm right this can only be a function without arguments.
window.setTimeout(animation, 500); <- rigth way
window.setTimeout(animation(object, direction, newNumber), 500); <- wrong
Starts the function animation direct without waiting 500ms.

I'd look at the JQuery[^] library to do this and save yourself a whole lot of hassles.

oh that is cool! To be honest I've never really looked into jQuery but you're right. It'll probably make most sense to just use that animate function they have.
Thanks!

The answer is still Google; type in your search criteria (calendar jsp-ajax javascript) and see what it finds.

Hi , I am a newbie in HTML/Asp .
I am developing a simple site about DB creation/management.
I want that, when I click a button on my main page , another page appears without being appended to the main one (that is, I want the main one not to appear anymore). I found that using a Redirect to another .asp, different from the one containing the main page,
works fine : but, what if I want to send the new page directly using a Response.Write () statement ? I've seen that, this way there's no chance to prevent the browser from appending the new page to the main one ...

Duh, RTFM. Response.Write writes directly to the response stream, of course it going to append or insert any content

so , what should I do to "refresh" the current page to the new one without using Redirect ?

This is a ridiculous request. You can't. You can only update a portion of the page, unless you are using Response.Write for the entire main page, which would be foolish.

Are you sure you can say it is "ridiculous" ?
and can you explain me why ??

Yes, it's ridiculous. There, that's twice now.

If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand even if it were explained.

the typical easy answer of the incompetent ...
You'd better answer "because I don't know" ....
What I can/can't understand you don't know (one of the many things it seems...)
Better take care about wha YOU can't understand ....

That is your response. You have proven it many times here.

Hello folks,
I can send an e-mail from my web-server like so:
SmtpClient mailClient = new SmtpClient();
mailClient.Send(some defined mail);
I'm however unsure as to the security in this. If someone should gain access to the machine, and it's set up to allow the above, wouldn't this mean the attacker would be able to use the server as a spam-bot?
Many, many thanks for your input (and possible a great link explaining the reasoning behind it),
Morten
