Ha ha .. it is nothing related to the page / code. Actually might be some advertisement pops up which is blocked by your popup blocker. The popup comes because I published the demo page in a free web host provider.
Just check the actual page, it has a button Open popup, which will show the popup.

Why are you not using the Ajax Modal Popup? That will take away a lot of pains of yours.

I don't know how to implement that in an XSL file. I am looking at implementing it in my webpage now, I've been trying to avoid it as it's very complex with lots in inheriting between pages, user controls and xsl files.

Hi, I have used the following code successfully on a windows form to create a timed event where a label is displayed to the user, then the event fires for 5 seconds and the label is then updated. Here is the code:
private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
label1.Text = "Please wait...";
System.Timers.Timer timer = new System.Timers.Timer();
timer.Interval = 5000;
timer.Elapsed += delegate
{
label1.BeginInvoke((MethodInvoker)delegate
{
label1.Text = "Done";
});
timer.Stop();
};
timer.Start();
}
Is there an equivalent to this in webforms?
Thanks

use JavaScript's window.setTimeout() and window.setInterval()
|
|
|
|
|
Use
setTimeout(invokeMember, 5000)
See this :
http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_timing.asp[^]
If you need to update server, make AJAX call from inside invokeMember ( or whatever your function name is).. otherwise just change the value of the member.
var element = document.getElementById('label1');
element.value = 'done';
cheers

You need to provide the Remote Server name in Connection String and UserId and Password ( If Needed )

Use ip to track the remote server.
Data Source=10.1.0.1;uid=xx;pass=yyy
Also make sure, that the Sql server port is exempted from remote server firewall..

I want to down load and save a folder on client machine. please help
|
|
|
|
|
User this :
string filename = "x.dat";
HttpContext.Current.Response.Clear();
HttpContext.Current.Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + filename);
HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/exe";
HttpContext.Current.Response.BinaryWrite(filebytes);
HttpContext.Current.Response.Flush();
HttpContext.Current.Response.Close();
You can use Response.TransferFile / or directly Response.Write based on your content.

Can anyone please help me in differentiating between Remote Procedure Call and Web Services.
|
|
|
|
|
Actually Web Services are a part of Remote Procedure Calls. Web services uses Http Request/ response (SOAP based) to call a remote procedure.
Other than that you can also invoke RPC using normal Remoting.
|
|
|
|
|
Remote Procedure Call is the generic name for invoking methods (originally, Procedures) in other computers.
.Net Remoting, Web Services, WCF and other technologies are, in practice, RPC technologies.
You can also see RPC used for Com+, as Com+ components can be activated remotelly.

Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customerrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customerrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
<configuration>

<customerrors mode="Off">
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customerrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

First do what it wants you to do then post the error message.
