1. you can't do it. when you click a button, the page refreshes and the code-behind variables' values are deleted. I recommend you to use the ViewState.
2. The best way is using Regular Expressions.

I have searched for this and can't seem to find my answer? Maybe I'm not typing in the correct words but I was wondering what type of encryption ASP.net 2.0 membership provider uses to store user passwords? Is it SHA256, SHA512? I know you can set it to reversible encryption where you can look at the passwords but I'm wondering what the default is?

your question is not clear. If you want to open word or pdf file,the client system must have office and acrobat installed,asp.net will be helping in getting download those files on client machine and a dialogbox will be open asking opening/saving the file...
Can you bit more clear about your requirement?
Cheers!!

hi there,
am using showmodaldialog to open a page to validate password, the thing is i want it to take the oldpassword and check if its right after putting it in a textbox, how clud i pass parameters (tbPassword.text)so that i can validate it on new page , and how to return value to the main page??
|
|
|
|
|
Why are you trying to validate password in popup window. you can validate the same in your parent window itself. Is there any special requirement for that.
You can access the parent control...
window.opener.FormName.control.value

how, am having truoble to passing parameters??
2 be more clear the showmodaldialog opens a page with 3 textboxes(oldpassword, newpassword, confirmnew) and i want it to check if oldpassword valid then adding the newpassword and return it to main page
|
|
|
|
|
you can validate the passowrd at popup and have some hidden field/textbox(anything where you want the new password) in parent form as Abhijit suggested to access the control of parent window from popup..
Does it solve your problem?
Cheers!!

It's very abstract question. Developing antivirus is not a easy task. and its nothing to do with ASP.NET.

That is really not a good starting point. I would suggest you do some research about viruses and how to recognise them before embarking on such an ambitious project.

That remains to be seen.

But why?

We already kinda knew that.

Find another profession. I know a guy that used to think he was a dotnet developer, and he decided to get a job running the machine that puts the ridges on the sides of checkers. He's very happy now.

I am trying to get a value in response to user button selection, eg Butoon 1, button 2, button 3 selected, want sequenceObj ="1,2,3,", this part is ok but not getting anything in code behind.
This is what I have and I know it's probably not right but I have not done things like this before.
I am hoping some one can tell me how to go about it.
in .cs file //there is probably a lot more to do in relation to this but don't know how and is probably why I am not getting values.
bnSubmit.OnClientClick = Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(this, "sequenceObj.value");
in .js file
function buttonClick(s)
{
sequenceObj.value += s + ",";
}
function getSequence() //does not get here!
{
return sequenceObj.value;
}
in .aspx file
<script type="text/javascript"> sequenceObj = new Object(); sequenceObj.value = ""</script>
<asp:Button ID="bnSubmit" runat="server" Text="Submit" Width="100%" onclick="bnSubmit_Click" Height="38px" onclientclick="return getSequence()" UseSubmitBehavior="False"/>;
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two asp.net websites that relate to eachother:
1) My normal site.
2) The blog portion of my site (based off of the opensource BlogEngine.NET project)
I want to have my blog site setup as a subdomain of my regular site (i.e. blog.mySite.com). My question though is what's the best way to setup these sites? Should I keep them as two separate websites and simply have my blog site be referenced via the blog.mySite.com? Or should I merge the two into one giant asp.net solution?
The potential downside I see to keeping them separate is I want my user to maintain their user credentials when they hop over to the blog site & vice versa. I'm not sure if this will create any issues.
The potential downside to merging them is the user will have to load BOTH sites when they first visit www.mySite.com, regardless if they plan on clicking on the blog or not.
So just curious how you guys would set this up...would you merge them into one .net solution or keep them separate?
Thanks.

Where do you want to place these buttons? On the dynamic forms?
