Last week my repuation allowed me to edit Q&A entries but now, apparently, I can't despite my reputed reputation having risen.

Has something changed or are the hamsters on the lash again?

Yes these rules have in fact changed. The Quick Answers FAQ[^] has been updated here at the office but hasn't yet made it to production. Basically, the ability to edit now depends on your level of certain reputation types. Your level can be any of:

- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum

For any of the following reputation types:

- Author
- Authority
- Editor
- Enquirer
- Organiser
- Participant

Refer to the Reputation FAQ[^] for which reputation points apply to which reputation types.

You can't yet view how many points you have for each reputation type but we'll definitely work that in. Sorry for the confusion. Smile | :)

Hey all, I have this very strange issue that suddenly popped up lately. I cannot download most, if not all, attachments to articles as of late last week. This is on two machines, Vista 64 with Firefox 3.5.6 and Windows 2000/Firefox 3.0.16 (yes I still have a Windows 2000 machine, Smile | :)

).

I have tried to resolve this several ways to no avail. Has anyone else received the message of...

"An Error Occurred Ticket: (No ticket provided - possibly an error in the error-system)
Error: An error occurred in this page. The error has been recorded and the site administrator informed."

...when they attempt to download (click on) an attachment link, be it code, a binary, a zip, or otherwise.

This is only for codeproject.com, all other sites with downloads work fine to my knowledge, I did not try the entire Internet.

I also should mention that IE 7 works perfectly, which is why I think it is a browser or header issue perhaps. (Please don't tell me to start using IE, Dead | X|

)

Help or pointers appreciated. I fear this is something with Firefox, as they just released a security update on the 16th.

I'm looking into this now. Can you send me the URL of the page you are on when clicking a link? Also, are you logged in when trying to download? Do you have any WebWasher or firewall software installed?

Chris, thanks for the attention to this. It seems like I am the only one with this problem, besides the recent comment from Robert.

I was originally looking at the articles for the C# competition this month which used to be on the home page. Then I tried random articles that were in my history.

Here's a sample of the urls I was attempting to get code from:

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/Battleship2008.aspx
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/game/CSharpSnooker.aspx

There were at least 4 other completely unrelated articles.

I have not found a root cause on my own as of yet. Let me know if you need any more information.

I see the same in IE 8. My FireFox 3.5.5 (and Opera 10.1 by the way) works fine though

When ToDoList notifications are sent they report themselves as 'ToDoList 5.1.1' rather than the actual title version which is '6.0.7'.

This is actually so over the top as to be funny, but I wouldn't mind it being deleted from my message board. I know there's a mechanism in place for use to vote for its deletion, but that could take awhile.

I meant funny as in whatever sting the poster intended to inflict (I'm the one the insult was directed towards) was dimished by how over the top his post is. He's trying so hard to be insulting to the point of it being silly.

The guy was trying so hard to insult me to the point where I couldn't help buy laugh at it. Not in a laugh out loud sort of way or the way you'd laugh at a good joke, but rather laughing at someone trying to insult you who comes across as being silly instead. That's what I meant by his post being so over the top to the point of being "funny."

But I wouldn't want to encourage this type of behavior, not at all. So deleting his post from my article's message board will be fine with me. Smile | :)
