I've encountered a baffling problem with images, and I'm hoping someone who has seen something similar might suggest what's going wrong.
I'm working with CMYK bitmaps (not RGB) and generating separate cyan, magenta, yellow, and black bitmaps for printing. I'm adding some markup to the black plane before the bitmaps are generated.
The problem is the black markup is appearing on all four planes, and where it does appear, only every 4th column is written. It's almost as if the black markup is being diluted over the four planes.
Now for the baffling part: It only happens on SOME machines. It works correctly MOST OF the time. I've only seen this malfunction on three machines.
I've tried copying the same .EXE and .DLLs and the results are consistent on each machine, i.e. it appears to be machine-specific, not file-specific. On two machines that have the same service pack (3) of Windows XP, one exhibits the problem, and one doesn't.
Has anyone seen any behavior like this before, or have any idea what's causing the inconsistent results? Thanks!

never heard such a thing, I find it quite intriguing indeed.
First thought was about undercolor removal, but then you said it is black you added.
Some questions:
- how do you observe this? by watching a color component bitmap on screen? or only by actually printing/plate making?
- the added text is pure black?
- what is the background color?
- what is the ImageFormat at the input, anything with lossy compression (e.g. JPEG)?
- if the black adition is H pixels high (or W pixels wide), are the color shadows also H pixels high (or W pixels wide, give or take 3 due to your "every 4th column" remark)?
- how solid/saturated are the colored shadows of your black additions? or is it mostly an outline effect?
(that would suggest your text got added with anti-aliasing, resulting in some gray pixels at the edge, and then maybe your font rendering logic differs on some machines.)
- assuming your input images are not CMYK, what are they? RGB? how many bits? and what code do you use for CMYK conversion? if that is part of a library, please check for version differences here.
- any chance you have dithering/screening code running *before* you do color separation?
- any chance I could see some of the images (in, out) myself?

Hi Luc,
The problem has been solved: The images that showed this phenomenon had a 5th, alpha channel, which was being used for White, so the pixel format was CMYKW. (Research on the use of extra channels is being done concurrently, and the three machines that showed the problem just happened to have images with extra channels.)

Hi there,
I am using asp.net default role/membership provider for my new website using login control. I have data stored in a remote sql database -aspbnetdb. I am using the default functionalities to check login status, create new user update, delete user/role etc. Everything works fine when i am run in the VS 2008 development. But when i deploy my website into IIS 6, my membership doesnt work. When i give the login credentials, my IIS completly ignore what i have given in my webform and i ended upgetting an error saying
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'domain\machinename$'. But i didnt give this id anywhere. Do i need to have a account in this id at the database.
This could be a easy fix, but i really dont know how to fix this.

Just trying to learn this stuff it is not a must but i seen Linq is very cool
Ok well i want to get titles from my existing dataset where they equal the text of a textbox so i was trying to do something like this using linq....

then i wanted to make the binding source that of _data
so i thought something on the lines of
bindingnavigator.bindingsource.datasource = _data;
then calling the
bindingnavigator.bindingsource.filter some how another to show the results of the linq
is this even possible? And if so how would it be done cause linq looks pretty neat but I like the bindingnavigator filter option too

It looks pretty cut and dried to me (the c# example is closer to the bottom of the page). Notice that the BindingSource is allocated, and then set in the form_Load() method.

Hi all,
I'm writing some code that I want to be part user generated part auto generated.
The code will be C# but used as a script through embedding Mono in a c++ application.
Ideally I want my users to use a graphical editor that will auto-generate the class and the constructor using info from the editor(I've done this using the AssemblyBuilder and Reflection.Emit)
But then I want the user to be able to use a text editor to write an override for the Update() method then any number of public or private methods they wish to define.
I want to be able to compile this hand-writen code (I'm doing this with the CSharpCodeProvider) but I want to inject it into the autogenerated code some how.
So the class and constructor is auto-generated and the Update method and any number of other methods are handwritten in C# 2.0 and the results combined into a single dll.
I hope this explanation makes sense.... can any one help?

It seems like all of the code is dynamic.
If the result is a single dll, then you can combine all code (text) right before compilation.
If the result is two dlls or more, you can create an interface and then load the implementation of Update on runtime (there are many other ways...)

I'm quite lost. I think it's simple, but I can't find the article or forum answer...
I have a dataset. I have bound diffrent columns to different textboxes.
Now...
¿How do I move throught the dataset? I just need to navigate through the dataset and then bound controls should automatically update. How to:
- Move next/previous record
- Seek or find records.

not sure if it works in that version of c# that you are using or not I'm using c# visual studios 2008 express edition. But anyway what I use is the bindingnavigator toolstrip
it does just that adds a forward back and list the number of items like 1 of whatever. lets you skip to the front to the end and then add remove save... and then you simply take and have your controls bound to the data in the datasource. and it will automatically update.
How i went about doing it in my project was I took and added a database using the whole data>add data source thing in the compiler. Once that was done I took and went under the data source thing that it creates on the left side of the compiler. I simply dragged the table onto my form and it makes a dataview along with the cool little toolstrip navigator. i simply remove the dataview and keep the toolstrip. then i go back to the datasource thing and select the individual items i wish to add to the form and simply drag them over. You can hit the little drop down to change it from a text box to a combo box to whatever. Then the control is bound to that datasource. so now when you use the navigator it will move forward or back. and the controls will automatically update. I think this is what you were looking for. If not i'm sorry for misunderstanding..

I just want to ask what are some of the errors that OleDbException exception handler usually handles?
is the scenario of having a failed connection to the database one of the errors?
I can't find a detailed list of all the exception handlers usually used in database programming.
