hi,
in my web site (www.bposllc.com) i hope to include meta keywords that are dynamically upload when products links are clicking. i want to know that is it good or bad when crowling search engine
i am not gettting your meaning of upload metakeyword dynamically but it is beneficial as you generate dynamically as per product.
you can add this into your database and get from thier (individual for each product). it will help to for SEO.Regards

My point of view, different meta keywords for different product is good for SEO purpose.

Hi Friends,
I am using a web application which is recently Converted from vs-2003 to vs-2008.Here whenever i build this application, the related dll in bin folder is not updated. what may be the reason? how can i overcome this? I need this recently modified dll to be used in main project. Can you please guide?
Thanks in Advance
Prasad.

Is the DLL you are using a .NET assembly within the same solution? And if so, did you make the reference to the Project of that assembly? (as in Add Reference >> Projects >> Your DLL project)
Hi Calla,
thanks for ur reply.
I tried doing Add reference>>Projects, but nothing is available.
I need to know why we have to add reference? bcoz in vs-2003, whenever we build the application
the respective dll gets updated right?
Well, if the DLL you want to use is a project you build in your solution you have to add a reference to the output of that project in VS so a dependency is created and then the file will be built automatically. If it is a third party DLL then you simply add a reference to the file itself (but from what I understand this is not your case).
When you open up your solution in VS and choose Add Reference to your Project, do you mean that none of the projects in your solution is shown under the Projects tab?

yes calla..
nothing was shown.

Hi,
I want to create some classes in C#.net and some in VB.net in my asp.net web application.
Even though .Net provide this functionality, I want to know about the pros and cons of
such kind of application.
If someone has done this and can share what are the issues, if any, may arise in this.

Why use both languages? It is more common to keep all development in a single language. This provides consistency in the development and design and reduces the number of people necessary and their skill sets. You will rarely find VB developers who can also do C# and although you can find more C# developers who can also do VB, they don't want to. I know the language. I've read a book. - _Madmatt

Apart from what Mark said,we can have both c# and vb.net classes in our Application. It is just like if you have some modules that are already written in some different language like VB or something else then you can use that directly in your C# application, you do not need to rewrite the code. Some time there are legacy code that are in different language you can use it directly. But if you are going to develop a new application, it is not recommended to use different language. Cheers!!

Hello Friends,
I want to create a 3 Tier Architecture in asp.net. This architecture should help me developing small websites..Give me your valuable suggestions..or any references, links which i can refer..
Thanks..
Firstly, do you understand what a '3 tier architecture' is? If you have a look through Code Project there are any articles that describe 3 tier and a simple search on Google should yield many more results.Tychotics: take us back to the moon

Thanks first of all.
Yes. I know what is 3 tier architecture is and benefits of it over 2 tier arch. I have developed a 3 tier architecture for my apps but want to improve it with better solutions..
Let me know if you have any ideas..
Thanks
What do you mean by 'better solutions'? There are always other solutions which may or may not be better suited to your project. Without knowing what it is you are trying to achieve I can't really give you a meaningful answer. If the solution you already has works well then all you'll end up doing is tinkering. Maybe you shoul dstart to take a look at design patterns[^] and how they can help you.Tychotics: take us back to the moon

Hi Amit
Actually 3 tier Arch. divide ur Application in 3 parts
1.Presentation layer
2.Business layer
3.Data Access layer
for more search over the net u can get the arch. there.

Hi,
I'm in need of using the standard Excel and XML file-type icons for a commercial web application, can I just use these or should I "purchase" these icons first?
Thanks in advance.Rafferty
Afraid not:
http://www.microsoft.com/About/Legal/EN/US/IntellectualProperty/Permissions/Default.aspx#EEE[^]
"Icons may not be used in advertising, in books and other printed matter, on clothing or other promotional items, in online and Internet locations, in software applications, in television programs, in commercials, in movies, or on videotape."
At least that's my interpretation, if youre linking to an excel/word/clippymustdie file then it'd be ok.
I suspect you'd have to pay through the nose for licenced usage rights in any other way and they'd probably audit it beforehand.

Hello;
I am trying to come up to speed and learn ASP.NET.
I am doing pretty good. However, I have a shared hosted site that supports ASP.NET 3.5 IIS7
How do my applications run on this shared environment?
Does anyone know the basics to that?
Do I need to change my webconfig.xml file to allow debugging there. again, I am new to this all and used to code standard ASP. In the VS 2008 IDE I can debug nicely and checkout my web service and all that fine. However How would I run a compiled DLL on my shared hosting account?
I know these are dumb questions but I went through several books and none cover this. Maybe ASP.NET will only work on machines that I am physically hosting?
I mean, the goal is to create reusable DLLs that I can use in the site do do the work.
Thanks everyone in advance for your patience and not throwing stones, LOL
