You would like the entire project, by this evening?
I knew it would end badly when I first met Chris in a Canberra alleyway and he said 'try some - it won't hurt you'..... - Christian Graus on Code Project outages

Or is it the "Thou shalt not take a paid contracting job and then ask CPians to complete the entire project for you" commandment?

I have a webpage set up, and I want to be able to click a button and run a program located on my computer. I have seen some code that lets the user click a button and run programs on their own computers, but is there any way that they could run programs on my computer? I am using ASP with VBScript, but if there is another way to do this with a different language I would happily change. I don't need the program to be displayed to the user. Thanks in advance.

I can think of two methods i'd try,
1. If you have a static IP you could try the various VNC apps. They allow you to control your desktop remotely. Search for WinVNC on google.
2. ISAPI extensions, i've never used them myself, but I assume you can get them to run processes on the host server.
other than that, you'll have to look on the web for other software made for this
We brought out this, new and very similar version of our expensive software because the old version was......old....It's a good enough excuse for Microsoft so its fine for us. Oh and by the way, your old version will expire in three days unless you purchase the new version.

Thanks for the reply Jonny... I have tried programs like VNC, but they are more for just connecting two computers. I want the user to just be able to execute one program, not have full control of my computer. As for ISAPI, I have not looked at this option, I will check it out. Thanks again for your reply, if anyone else has any ideas, let me know.
Thanks,
Shane

Hi everyone,
I am trying to display a xml document in a separate file as a part of a html document. the xml document contains some data needed to be rendered in the html file and i don't want to use the server-side dynamic page scripts to coalesce them. can i achieve it just adding some html tags or css or xsl?
thanks

I posted this somewhere in here, so if you see this somewhere else, please forgive--new to this site.
I am trying to read a text file in ASP and assign each line to a variable. THE CODE FOLLOWS:
<%
dim fso
fname = "admixture"
filename = server.mappath("data/" & fname & ".txt")
set fso = createobject("scripting.filesystemobject")
' read the text file
set fso = createobject("scripting.filesystemobject")
filename = server.mappath("data/" & fname & ".txt")
set readfile=fso.opentextfile(filename,1,false)
do until readfile.atendofstream
h = h + 1
text=readfile.readline
line&h = text
loop
readfile.close
%>
The challenge is when I try to assign the variable "line", place a number after it then make it equal to "text".
Can or would someone help?
God Bless,
mark

Hi,
I need to customize a File Upload object in a HTML form. I want to change "browse..." text and button colors... Can anybody help me ??
Another possibility will be made it with Flash...is it possible ??

if it's html then you can just edit the source to change the caption of the button, and use CSS tags to change the colour (a google search will show you how to do either of these)

I am populating a datagrid in page load event. On itemCommand event, i make some changes in data grid, however, these changes are not reflected in grid, unless i repopulate grid, as item command event is fired after page load. So, whenever item command event is fired, i have to populate grid twice.
Can any body suggest me some better way,so that i do not have to populate grid twice...
Your help will be greatly appreciated...

Hi,
Here is the way to access your table element:
document.all.obj.parentElement.parentElement.parentElement.parentElement
| | | |
| | | |
That's a lot of parentElements...

The formatting was not to good in my previous message.
Basically here is the hierarchy:
IMG -> TD -> TR -> TBODY -> TABLE
