I have two Dropdown listboxs and one grid
I select something from the first list and the second list will have new selections and after I select something from the second list the Data in the datagrid will change, all this without moveing from one page to another, it all has to happen in one page DYNAMIC!!
What is the simplest way on doing it?
DHTML,ASP.NET,ASP or ActiveX
I need a sample and some source code PLEASE!!

I assume you are doing some kind of sql statement based on the two parameters from the listboxes. However, the datagrid would be REALLY tricky on an html form.
I guess the question that needs to be answered is.. Does the user do anything with the data besides look at it? There is no datagrid in HTML. If you plop it in an activex control you automatically limit your viewers to Internet Explorer, and you have to register the control.
The next question is... Do you really need it dynamic, or to appear dynamic? You can have an ASP page that routes the form information to itself and displays a table with the information.
Code example in psuedocode:
<%
request.form var1
request.form var2
function writetable()
connect to db and do query,
response.write("table with info from database")
end function
<%if var1 and var2 not= ""
call writetable
end if%>

Hi
I have a page that has to request file from server ( if user want the file ) to process,
I use XMLHttp object to directly request the file from server . The problem is
the file is quite big and rarely updated so I want it to be cached in user machine
( browser cache ) . I've checked IE cache files and I've found this file in there already
( in temporary internet files folder ) . But XMLHttp always get the new copy of this file
eventhough it's not updated. I've try to uset setRequestHeader method in many ways
but still doesn't work . When I call this file directly with IE address box , yeah it's cached
, the request header contains "If_Modified_Since" and "If_None_Match" keywords and
server reply with 304 Not modified , that's correct . But with my XMLHttp , eventhrough
I try to put these request header keywords with XMLHttp setRequestHeader , server still
serve the new copy of file . Can someone help ?,please . I've try for 2 days and almost give up -_-'
this is part of my request
lo_data_xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject ("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
lo_data_xmlhttp.open ( "GET", "http://xxx/region_string.txt", false );
lo_data_xmlhttp . setRequestHeader ("Cache-Control","must-revalidate");
//is this what I want ?what else I should include in request header ? please tell me
lo_data_xmlhttp . send ( av_request_data );
ao_response . e_data = lo_data_xmlhttp . responseText;
..............
I'm sure that the file requested by XMLHTTPRequest will be cached on user machine , I've checked already and 100% sure . But I don't think , for the next request , XMLHTTP will look at the cache by default , so I really don't know hot to get If_Modified_Since or If_None_Match data of the file , anyone have any suggestion on how to put these data in request ? Do I have to read the file property directly from IE cache ? I can't find any useful information about this from any of MS site , any suggestion ? please
Thank you very very much in advance , and really sorry for my bad English :/

My code makes it hard to find the address. Just add meta tags to a whole new password page and take the ones on your real page off. Note: It will run 2 functions with an array.

How can I hide or encript ASP code so
that user or client can not read it?
Any help is highly appreciated.

ASP is processed on the server before being sent to the client. So, except for the occasional IIS security flaw, your code is safe. If you still want to encode your ASP you can check this out.

You can also dump the ASP to a .dll file and use it that way if you are worried about someone getting on your server and looking at your asp. However, you would have to recompile when you made changes.

I've created a cgi app using C++ builder 5. Unfortunately the help supplied with it is terrible (at least compared to Visual studio's).
I've internationalised it but the content language for Japanese browsers doesn't work properly. All I get is garbage unless I select View->encoding->Japanese (auto select).
How do I force this. From the books I've read I think I have to supply the client with the http header containing "Content-Language: jp".
I've tried Response->SetCustomHeader("Content-Language", "jp"); but it's not working. Any ideas?
|
|
|
|
|
Your response should define the character set used for Japanese text (there are several alternatives).
It's part of the Content-Type header, e.g.
Content-Type: text/html; charset=JIS_C6220-1969
|
|
|
|
|
I've tried (Using Borland C++)
Response->SetCustomHeader("content-language", "ja");
Response->SetCustomHeader("ContentLanguage", "ja");
Response->SetCustomHeader("ContentLanguage:", "ja");
Response->SetCustomHeader("content-language:", "ja");
Response->SetCustomHeader("content-type", "text/html;charset=Shift_JIS");
Response->SetCustomHeader("ContentType", "text/html;charset=Shift_JIS");
Response->ContentType = AnsiString("text/html; charset=JIS_C6220-1969");
Nothing seems to work? Is is just the http information I need to modify or does the html file require something special (apart from the obvious of it containing japanese characters!).
It displays fine if I go to VIEW-ENCODING-Japanese(Auto Select) but I don't want to have the toolbar in my app so this isn't acceptable.

We have developped a new kind of guestbook. We call it GuestMap. It's free. Over 1000 visitors registered for the code. HOWEVER GuestMap does not work with Netscape Navigator 6 as we don't know how to program the DHTML-code for dragging objects with NN6? Do you know any sample code?
You may test GuestMap here:

We are developing an application which reads an XML data file from the Web. I need the Web browser to launch my application if it encounters a HYPERLINK in REF tag to a file with .SRF extension.
How can I make the web browser understand it so that it can download such a file and launch my application passing this file as an argument.
|
|
|
|
|
Bear with me, I may have completely misunderstood your question, if so then the following reply is totally wrong. If you are asking about how to parse a HTML file looking for all .SRF files then this is not your answer.
When I first started HTML I also could not figure out how people made links to downloadable files etc. Eventually I simply tried <A HREF="filetodownload.zip">Download</A> and it worked. It would open the "Would you like to Run or Save this file?" dialog box.
What you are asking is that when that dialog box opens is it possible to simply associate that .SRF file with the application you created. That is pretty simple and you should be able to find out how to do it by looking in Windows help. However it is not a wise idea to make it totally automatic (i.e. removing that IE dialog box) as it could breach security and let in some nasty code.
Also I would recommend you rather use a .NET webservice or some other RPC method to get that SRF file, rather than relying on clicking links and opening files.
As mentioned above, lets hope I got your question right, otherwise *shrugs* oh well, I tried.

What language do you want to program it in? By "Web Mail", I suppose you mean form mail processing? Goto www.scripts.com and look around, they should have something like that.

Any language, You can help me, I may be use ASP ? Or CGI , and i need Server Mail ?
Thank you .

Sendmail is usually on all servers, that or SMPT. Goto google.com and search for matt's script archive. He (Matt) has a nice CGI/Perl form-mail script.
I don't really know that much about ASP, so I can't help you there.
You're Welcome,
