C# Photo Album Viewer[^]
It's not specific to PDF files but images are stored and retrieved the same way so it should give you a place to start.

Hi all,
Earlier from a suggestion from this message board I was able to migrate my ASP application to Aspnet 1.1 application successfully using the Migration Assistant. Thanks guys..
After migration, the code behind file was not generated automatically for each aspx page that was converted. How can I do this for all the aspx files?
Individually, renaming a file to asp and then back to aspx will allow me an option to create code behind files manually. But this is a one by one process.
Is there any option in the Visual studio 2003 editor to create code behind files automatically for all the aspx files?
Thanks
Rijz

Hello,
I use the asp:login control, but the task now is to integrate facebook. Facebook gives me an userid. With that userid, I have to check if that user already exists and log him in if it does.
This would mean I have to call some method that sets current user. But on login button I have LoginControl_LoggedIn that I would need to execute.On login button I have CommandName="Login". How do I call login from code?
Thank you very much.

hi,
i am displaying a messagebox server side. For that i have developed a class which is called from an aspx page which inherits masterpage. the master page includes asp:updatepanel control and updateprogress control. due to this i cant use httpconetxt.current.response.write to display the message box.
Following is the aspx code:
using System;
using System.Data;
using System.Configuration;
using System.Collections;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.Security;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts;
using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;
public partial class Presentation_Admin_Menu_MenuGroup_MenuGroupDetail : System.Web.UI.Page
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
MsgPopUp.Show(Page, "sandeep with me");
}
}
THIS IS THE CLASS CODE FOR DISPLAYING THE MESSAGEBOX
====================================================
public static void Show_Panel(Page sender, string Message)
{
try
{
UpdatePanel sender1 = (UpdatePanel)sender.Master.FindControl("UpdPanel");
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(sender1, typeof(UpdatePanel), "ABC", "alert('"+Message+"');", true);
//if (!(handlerPages.Contains(HttpContext.Current.Handler)))
//{
// Page currentPage = (Page)HttpContext.Current.Handler;
// if (!((currentPage == null)))
// {
// Queue messageQueue = new Queue();
// messageQueue.Enqueue(Message);
// handlerPages.Add(HttpContext.Current.Handler, messageQueue);
// currentPage.Unload += new EventHandler(CurrentPageUnload_withupdpanel);
// }
//}
//else
//{
// Queue queue = ((Queue)(handlerPages[HttpContext.Current.Handler]));
// queue.Enqueue(Message);
//}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
throw ex;
}
}
private static void CurrentPageUnload_withupdpanel(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
try
{
Queue queue = ((Queue)(handlerPages[HttpContext.Current.Handler]));
if (queue != null)
{
StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder();
int iMsgCount = queue.Count;
builder.Append("<script language='javascript'>");
string sMsg;
while ((iMsgCount > 0))
{
iMsgCount = iMsgCount - 1;
sMsg = System.Convert.ToString(queue.Dequeue());
sMsg = sMsg.Replace("\"", "'");
builder.Append("alert( \"" + sMsg + "\" );");
}
builder.Append("</script>");
handlerPages.Remove(HttpContext.Current.Handler);
//HttpContext.Current.Response.Write(builder.ToString());
Page currentPage = (Page)sender;
UpdatePanel sender1 = (UpdatePanel)currentPage.Master.FindControl("UpdPanel");
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(sender1, typeof(UpdatePanel), "ABC", "alert('Hi, I did it!');", true);
//currentPage.RegisterStartupScript("alert", builder.ToString());
//if (!script.IsClientScriptBlockRegistered(script.GetType(), "Alert"))
//{
// script.RegisterClientScriptBlock(script.GetType(), "Alert", "alert('record inserted');", false);
//}
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
throw ex;
}
}
Instead of httpcontext.response.write i use
UpdatePanel sender1 = (UpdatePanel)currentPage.Master.FindControl("UpdPanel");
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(sender1, typeof(UpdatePanel), "ABC", "alert('Hi, I did it!');", true);
in the above class code. But the message box doest not get displayed.
Thanks.

hi jamii,
this.ID in you reply means exactly which id.
i am actually displaying the messagebox through class.
in my aspx page i am using the object of the class and passing the message to the method which in turn displays the messagebox

You can always check the key for the script with IsClientSideScriptRegistered to ensure you don't register it multiple times.

Receiving mail is a whole different beast than sending mail.
If you're in a corporate environment, you should ask the mail administrator which are the recommended ways of doing this.
Otherwise, the following article[^]
implements a simple pop3 server with eventing. You could do something similar.
The point is that internet mail is distributed through smtp servers. In order to receive mail from the internet, you need a public domain name, MX records in you domain DNS, and a fixed IP address.
If you can't do that, you'll have to register a mail address with a free mail provider (or with your ISP).
You can then access that mail through the POP3 protocol(all providers), the IMAP protocol (some providers), or something else (for example MAPI)
Your best bet is pop3, after you've registered a mail address. I've found a pop3 class library at Codeplex[^], you may wanto check it out

Hi Arindam,
why you need to detect the browser type/version, i think the best practice is to have a javascript code that works(compatible) with all type of browsers .

Hi Jamil,
Yes, you are correct, the best practice is that one should write a code which is independednt of type of browser. Unfortunately not all javascript is supported by all browser's javascript processing engine. Thats why we need to detect browser type and write code.
As in the problem statement says that the person is having a piece of code which is wokring in Mozila and not in IE 7.0, that prompted me to suggest the same.
But rule of thumb is definitely as you have mentioned.
Thanks,
Arindam D Tewary

oh, i see i got your idea.
but from my point of view i would prefer to write a code that is compatible with the main browsers (Firefox, IE and Chrome)
