I have a question I am running a dual processor Xeon processor running IIS 5.0 and serving pages / info from an Access DB. I havnt run into any problems yet, but here is my question.
Is there a maximum of concurrent users that can query the DB at one time?
Are there any relevant restrictions that using an Access DB over say SQL server that I should be aware of.
Can anyone provide me with information as to the benefits related with running a SQL Server over an access DB?
It seems that when I am page loading from a MAC the server really chugs? any insight? I can use many PC's concurrently, but when I access the website with a MAC its quite a different story.. Any Help / Finger pointing to help would be appreciated.

Netscape doesn't recognize the form-name, since it was created using a document.write (or something to the same effect).

Some may have seen earlier posts about Universe Technology, but here is the full description of whats going on.
Universe Technology is a beginning company that is looking to make its start in designing web pages that bring in money through advertisement. So far we have two sites that are being worked on by our ASP developers, the site layout itself has already been finished.
We are now looking for people that design Web Pages, and can design them REALLY well. I'm talking sites like everlore.com, starcraft.org, etc. This doesn't mean you have to do the programming, just the site layout. Although that you would have to do completely, HTML and Artwork.

Hi,
I am working on a project which will require the emailing, faxing and saving of asp pages once they have been dynamically created. I'd like to be able to have the server create a page, server side, and store it somewhere on the server, as well as sending a copy to the client. If the client wishes to save the page, server-side, then I can use the temporary page sitting on the server. The only way I know how to get around this problem would be to create the physical file on the server.

Do you mean "how can I let my clients save an actual .ASP file to their computer without the server side ASP interpreter interpreting the ASP code in the file?".
If that is what you mean then: one method would be to simply rename the ASP file extension to something other than a server side file extension i.e. .ASP1 or .HTM. That way IIS won't run the ASP file through the interpreter when the client requests the file.
If you mean "how can I save the HTML 'file' created by IIS from an ASP file to the server" then I do know how but for the life of me I cannot remember at this point. Soon as I do I will post the solution. I remember it has something to do with the Response object.

Put the code in a separate ".js" file and include that file in your html.
For e.g.

Yeah, but then the user can just enter http://whatever.com/scripts.js and then have access to the file.

Just remember that if someone then types in the URL to that .JS file they can view it's contents.

I need an editable ComboBox in an ASP.NET WebForm.
The asp:DropDownList-Control behaves like a ComboBox with DropDownList-style i.e. the selection field cannot be edited. Is there any way to make the asp:DropDownList-Control behave like a ComboBox with DropDown-style, to edit the selection field?

it really depends on how your clients are accessing your server. Im sure you could definately program in some HTML scripting into your client game to connect to and login into a server (simply running IIS on NT) but thats not really a secure means of accomplishing that.
If your client connects through his webv browser, then this is the best wat to handle it. Just research using ASP to create login pages and user accounts in win2000.
If your client is conecting through an application like Quake CLient / Server technology then you will need to program a Server Application to handle that.

I am trying to create a small, non-MFC, HTTP Client.
Only problem is, I cannot find anywhere a clear explanation of the "Entity Body' when I have multiple keywords, i.e. if I wanted to send this;

So I setup a TCP/IP session to msrv port 16052.
In my send data I code something like this;

I have a page that I want play sound whenever I want.I embed a sound file in the page:

The control code is
document.sound.play();
//and I tried to use "document.sound.play(false);" too.
But when I view this page,the browser give me an alert:
The object doest not support this method.
But I found some guide topic as the following:

these methods to be available to JavaScript (and the web page), you must
embed a LiveAudio console (any console will do, it can even be hidden)
somewhere on your page.

I'm seeking ASP Grid to browse my SQL Server database through WEB.
But I have some requirements to it:
1. support of ADO
2. ability to get an external Connection object, not generate own connection
3. support of CSS
4. customizable user interface (I want to change column titles, button's captions)
5. page-by-page access to DB.
Do I want too much? Or I have to develop my own solution?
Any help will be appreciate.

Does anyone know why the following HTML file causes Netscape Communicator 4.7x to screw up? It claims to be still reading the file, but is in fact severely locked up - it has to be shut down manually using Task Manager.
I apologise for the length of code, but it is the smallest snippet I can get to demonstrate the problem.

Not sure if this will help, but Netscape is a little flaky when you do multiple document.write's. You might want to have a single string containing the layer html and call document.write() once.
