Thanks, I have looked and seen that the nav is on each page rather than a call, but I do like how they implement it.
Will definitely pinch complement by imitation.
Cheers

Most likely that CP uses an include file of sorts in their page creation in a not very dissimilar way that PHP include files are used for repeated content such as menu navigation.

Do you have a recommendation for learning php?
A good tutorial site or a book you would recommend for beginners perhaps?

i got little problem with opening a webpage in masterpage's contentplaceholder.
To open a webpage in contentplaceholder of masterpage i need to do is
remove html tag , head and title... and doctype tag too. along with
this i need to remove runat=server from form tag and put action
instead. and on the top most line '@page' i need to add masterpagefile
attribute. All code except for the first line has to be placed in
asp:content control with ref to master contentplaceholder......
but what i do if my webpage has style sheet ..i cant remove head tag
bcoz it contains style sheet link..and if dont remove style from the
head and try to run removing html tags and doctype....the webpage
opens in masterpage but on clicking on tab which is in webpage takes
me to homepage instead of opening tab.
webpage code .aspx
<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="TestStandards.aspx.vb"
Inherits="PATHOLOGY.TestStandards" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server"> <title>Standards</title>
<link href="tabstyle.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
</head>
<body>
<form id="form1" action="TestStandards.aspx">
<asp:Table ID="maintab" runat="server"> <asp:TableRow> <asp:TableCell> <asp:Table ID="content" runat="server"> <asp:TableRow> <asp:TableCell> Test Name:

Actually, i Don't really understand your question, why would you remove all tags (head etc.) from the masterpage?
|
|
|
|
|
head, title and doctype tags are not removed from the masterpage.. it has been removed from the webpage which i want to display in masterpages's contentholderplace. if u refer masterpagefile in <@page> line then head and title, html and doctype tags will show error that these tags are should not be nested in div.
i got my master page and a webpge which i want to open in master page.
The webpage is having tabs and on clicking on it open the view of that tab. It works perfectly if not opened in masterpage's contntplaceholder. When i open it in masterpage contentplaceholder the webpage appears ...i can even see the tabs but on clicking on tabs takes me to home page which is default page instead of showing me tab view.

You'll need to do it programmatically.
Make your masterpage have a public class and a public function that will add stylsheets based on a passed in variable.
In your content page's code behind, call this function with that page specific CSS.

Hey,
I am trying to use lists (like ol, ul, li, dl) to group the controls (like textbox, labels, buttons) so that I can easily use CSS on those lists. Does anyone know any good site to learn about these kind of things. Well I am trying by myself but I couldn't find it yet. So just in case, if anyone knows about that, it would be of great help.

I mean i have been trying to get some example of using list to include textbox label and assosciate them and again taking another list for another textbox label and assosciate them together. I can't even find in the links you've sent me. The general idea of using lists is not a problem to me..

These people http://net.tutsplus.com/[^] have a variety of tutorials (articles and video) covering from basic to advanced, including working examples (demo's) with source code. But you will have to search their site to find a tutorial/resource that matches your wants.

There are probably thousands of tutorial and/or resources websites. And many times that number who use some flavour of HTML + CSS, and probably quite a few that use the technique(s) you are after. You have a choice of (1) Google, (2) Get somebody else to design your site's needs, (3) Learn by trial and error, (4) Inspect, and learn from, other people's websites by studying source code etc, OR, (5) Give it up as a bad job.
It really isn't that hard to do either option (1) or (3) above. Your CP biography says you are a web developer. May I suggest that you either put into practice what you have learned or find some other kind of employment as web development doesn't appear to be your forte.
This is not meant to be hurtful and I am sorry if that is the impression I gave.

May I suggest that next time you ask a question you specifically say that you want someone to do all the work for you because you can't be bothered to look around for yourself.
That way it would stop people wasting their time trying to help you.

Hi,
I am developing a web service that connect to an access database.
the DB is on a server.
when using the web service I get the following error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized."
Please help!
Thanks

How are you accessing the webservice? It looks like the browse permissions are stuffed up within IIS (assuming you're using that).
|
|
|
|
|
using the URL where the webservice is located.
Is there something to configure in the IIS?

Well, yeah, of course that, but have you tried just putting it into a browser and checking the wsdl is accessible?
lune12 wrote: Is there something to configure in the IIS?
Well like any web app, you're going to need to configure permissions on it, whether it be anonymous or authenticated, it'll be down to you but have this looked over because it appears to be expecting credentials that you aren't supplying when trying to access it.

Thanks for your response,
I just found this also,
when adding to my application that use the web service the following, it works
myservice.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
But:::
I'm developing the web service, can't I change there something so the application will work without this adds?
