Dear all,
I developed a web application and it is working fine, except for one issue. The application includes uploading files from a JSP to my servlet, and the issue is that i would like to have a limit for the uploaded files on the client side (before actually uploading it).
I investigated alot and found some ways like changing my JSPs to PHPs, which is not feasable for my application. I would also like to add that using the Flash component ("<object>") for uploading is not feasable also at this time. Using ActiveX does not work also (for some security issues in javascript, it can not access the system information, also ActiveX works only on IE).
I would like to add that I have my application running on Oracle application Server, JSPs for displaying the forms, MultiPart Java API for getting the form input values and files to my servlet and everything is developed in JAVA.
I would like some help to solve this problem, either by limiting the file size or the limiting the whole request size sent to the servlet.
Thanks in advance and I really appreciate your help.

I am maintaining one web application which is done in Java & Oracle 10g & Jasper reports(Reporting tool for Java).
We will be generating Monthly report or Daily report or Report between two Dates (Ex. Invoice Statements)
I am sending query to database which contains 4 sub queries and collecting data from at least 4 tables.
The time taking for query processing and showing report is almost 3 to 5 minutes.
Still I want to reduce the time in terms of seconds.
Here where the Database caching concepts will be implemented.
How to go-a-head to fix up this issue?
Can I use Stored Procedures for this?
If you know about Database Caching in Java & Oracle please guide me to implement.
I have searched a lot in Google, but I feel I didn't get any good article or code.
Thanks in Advance.

I found one thing that I would like to share with you.All my Html and Images folders are in one folder.If I specify the path of my loading file somewhere in that folder then it is not loading in IE but at same time if i provide full path of that location then it is loading.
Is IE not taking current directory?
I need some ideas.

If i dont provide full path then in case of firefox creates a directory with same name in c:/programfiles.mozilaaFirefox/Myfoldername/test.ext
but in case of IE,If i dont pass full path then it sends like c:\document and setting\desktop\Myfoldername\test.ext and at this location no file.So it is not loading.
So what can i do to solve this.
Any Ideas guys.Now.
Regards
Yogesh

Try posting your question in one of the other forums as this is not really a Java problem but more to do with the way the browsers operate.

To reload a page in javascript you can execute the following javascript.
document.location.href = document.location.href
This should trigger the browser to reload the page.

Try posting your question to the correct forum, this is for Java questions; and JavaScript is not the same thing.

You cannot do it exactly. Taking any image and resizing to a smaller size will always lose some detail or definition. If your picture does not size clearly then you will have to find another picture.

I want to get complete URL address is displaying on address bar of browser.
Example http://wwww.eshop.com/ShowMember?name=Peter White&id=123
I use JSP and Serlet to create web application.
In above exmaple :
ShowMember is a serlet
http://wwww.eshop.com/ShowMember?name=Peter White&id=123 : display a JSP page on browser that is invoked by ShowMember Serlet

Your message is not very clear, please try and explain what is not working. I would also suggest you move this to the Web Development[^] forum, as your question appears to be concerned with Web issues rather than Java.

It depends a bit on how the page was called, but for as far as I know you can't get the complete URL simply by one call. You will need to construct it yourself as follows:
String url = request.getScheme() + "://" +
request.getServerName() + "/" +
request.getContextPath() + "/" +
request.getServletPath() +
(request.getQueryString() != null ? "?" + request.getQueryString() : "");
I haven't done a code check but this should work presuming you are in the servlet or JSP file and have the HttpServletRequest object available as 'request'. Which should be the default for JSP files and the .get() and .post() members in any servlet.
