I wanted to edit a message and clicked on "Reply" by mistake, which opened a Cancel-OK pop-up asking whether my intention really was to answer my own post.
"Hey, smart thing !"
I clicked on "Cancel", since I wanted to edit my message, not reply to it.
And the normal "reply" box opened...
"Hey, Site Bugs material ! "

I just reproduced it. Clicked on Reply then Cancel.

Sorry, just tested and it is definitely CPHog.

Hi!
I recently stopped participating in Question & Answers and have some occasional free time.
Would it help to proof read or copy-edit articles, tips & tricks (C/C++?) How would you find those places in need of an editor and how would you collaborate with others. Don't want to step on someone's foot, for example on Wikipedia you have discussion pages and portals to coordinate... and don't know if this kind of collaboration is intended by CodeProject. Thanks for tips, please let me know if this has been discussed previously.
Thanks.

Menu near the user's name[Top Right] is not behaving as expected. Most of the time menu is going off on mouse over a menu item. Sometimes I am able to click it.
Ctrl+F5 tried
Browser : Firefox 3.6.6

Seems to happen to me as well. However, if you hover the mouse over the green triangle instead of your username, there are no problems.

Sometimes that's also not working instead its getting focused on Lounge link below.

Yeah, just noticed that too.

It's happening to me as well.
EDIT I noticed that this happens on the CP Home Page, quick answers, and on the forums (except the Lounge), but not on my profile page.

In chrome it's all about speed
If you move your mouse to slow down to the popuplist it disappears but if your fast enough you can click the links
I think Chris is just trying to turn it into a game, let's see who can click the links.

Just tweaked it a little. A ctrl+F5 will force a refresh if you don't want to wait for your browser to update the new file.

You moved the popup up a bit.

I could be mistaken, but I think that previously, your settings for the Search Article filter were remembered between sessions.
Now it doesn't look like they are anymore. Is that a change in CP or a problem with my browser (IE8)?
Quite irritating that I have to change the settings every time I have to do a search...

...and everyone else was being irritated that their preferences were being remembered!

I think I was being a tad unclear, I was thinking about this page:
http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/Latest.aspx[^]
I don't see why people should be irritated if these settings were remembered, but if that's the case, then maybe a personal setting could take care of that?

Currently a member's Your File Uploads page says this: Only JPG, GIF, PNG, ZIP, TXT, PDF, XML files allowed.
Please add BMP to list.
[Update: also ICO and AVI.]
Thanks!

Given that 3 perfectly good (and much smaller) file formats are supported, why would you need bmp?

1. Because bmp's are still used in Windows programming. In fact, if you look inside shell32.dll or any other Windows dll, you won't find anything else (well, maybe a few gifs).
2. Because it's a convenience. Why should I convert to another format when what I want to share is a bmp, and a bmp happens to be the most appropriate format? Members use their uploads area to share code, and the particular bmp I wanted to upload falls into that category.
3. Because I'm guessing it will be a two-line hack to add bmp's to the list.
4. Because I needed to upload a bmp file as an adjunct to my tip here: http://www.codeproject.com/Tips/91717/Font-Type-Images.aspx[^]

BMP are uncompressed and we found that many, many authors were taking screenshots of their entire desktop and uploading 4MB bitmaps. Cutting off bitmaps immediately solved that problem. If you need to upload bmp's as downloads, then what about packing them in a zip?

So what? Every member has an absolute limit on the total size of their uploads. If they want to fill it with BMPs, that's up to them. It's ridiculous to think that people will abuse BMP but not PNG, JPG, or GIF.

That's what I had to do.
