We had the C++, C++/CLI and Windows Forms forums for years.
My preferred solution that morphed into Quick Answers: a single forum where each question is tagged by topic. So the short answer of where the poster should ask his question: right here[^].

And I think your preferred solution is beginning to show its strengths. But there are now even more 'new' forums in the 'old' list so new posters are rightly somewhat confused; or should that be 'spoilt for choice'?
It's time for a new signature.

On the programming discussions when clicking on the subject before the page fully loads, it reloads the page. This never used to happen previously. I am using a version of latest firefox compiled from source. I think the version is 4.0 beta.

Welcome to the club having *slow* internet connection!
This is a known issue I would say, reported few times. If the page is not fully loaded and you try to access a certain message then page-reposts.
So, keep patience, let the whole page load. Once done, all will be as expected.

I have fast internet connection. My office network is very fast but programming discussions pages on CP are slow.

This has happened for years. If it's new to you it just means you've never experienced a slow link to CP or CP staggering under heavy load before.

I get this error even on trying to read a simple text file (ReadMe.txt) of second archive. All working good for first archive.

We use a ZLib wrapper and I've seen a few zip files that can have their contents listed by the library, but not extracted. It's on our bug list.

Whenever I submit an answer in Q&A, I get this:
---------------------------
Windows Internet Explorer
---------------------------
Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?
You will lose any unsaved text. Is this OK?
Press OK to continue, or Cancel to stay on the current page.

OK Cancel

Initially, I thought might be some caching change. So, was not reporting. Strange thing is, today I had my Office PC formatted. Got Win7 installed. Fresh PC, I tried to post an answer and I get the same thing in that too!
Environment is what was same: IE8 & Win7.
Is that just me, even if so, any explanation would be appriciated.
(P.S.:Caching cannot be the reason!)

Yep looks to be a problem in IE alone. I'll take a look at it today.

In that specific instance, I think whoever rolled back CG's revision to expose the OP's password needs to be banned from the site (or at least stripped off all his moderation rights).

I won't object to this, but any slightly less flagrant jerk could simply look at the revision history without boasting of his acts and not be caught on CP.

Ok, so I have posted a humerous item, I get up voted, I get my 'Bonus Points'.
I am allowed 25 up votes a day (well, I am allowed more, but they don't give extra points).
All very well understood.
However...
At what time does the 24 hours run?
Is it local to my machine or GMT or Hamster HQ Time?
I only ask because I noticed that I didn't increase after a recent upvote.
