and, I am the first person to post in this thread and mean what I assume the forum means, cascading style sheets. How did we not have a forum for this before ?

Probably because it fell under web development.
Certainly when I had to make some enquiries on it that is where I went.

I have to ask, why in the world do you hate CSS? I love it, though not in any amorous fashion, for the consistency it allows me when designing sites. Combining Master Pages with CSS provides so much more control over the visual effects than anything previously available that I can't imagine ever going back to inline styles.

Because programming languages are consistently designed, and CSS appears to have been thrown together at random by a drunken sailor. And then it works in one browser and not another ( this is not the fault of CSS, I understand, but it's part of the overall nightmare )

Why does there have to be an OR involved?
i do believe there is something in the CSS specification that states it can be both at the same time.

I'd have made those apply to classes rather than ID's, but it's clear that CSS has no class. That's not a problem, however... elements can be stacked and nested. It's just a shame that they don't add up to much.

While the nuances of the difference between them escapes me, I do believe that either comparison elevates his persona to a level above his reach. Indeed, many of the happiest moments of my life have been spent between the labia described by both terms, and I can't recall a single moment of pleasure spent in his cyber-company.
I think that you owe the generative orifices of slightly more than half the world's population an apology for making such an unjust comparison.
Now, if you wish to make reference to rectal sphincters in this connection, I have no objection whatsoever - carry on!

Hello Friends
I created a java applet based application and for that In my html Page I am checking either java is installed or not on client machine and then after that if not then it asks for installation.
Now the problem is that It is not asking in IE6(am using tht) but in firefox a pop is coming and asking for installation.
I enabled Browser Settings of ActiveX for IE through Internet options.
Do I need to make some other settings?Or any other Ideas to make it workable.
Thanks In Advance.

Hello,
I have the following file called index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>HTML 5 and SVG Test</title>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.onmousemove = MoveRectangle;
function MoveRectangle(event)
{
var rect = document.getElementById("mytestrectangle");
var ev = event || window.event;
rect.x = ev.pageX;
rect.y = ev.pageY;
alert("x" + ev.pageX + "y" + ev.pageY);
}
</script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" />
</head>
<body>
<embed id="mysvg" src="test.svg" width="800" height="600" type="image/svg+xml" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/" />
</body>
</html>
and this code in another file called test.svg
<svg width="100%" height="100%"
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg">
<rect id="mytestrectangle" width="300" height="100"
style="fill:rgb(255,0,255);stroke-width:1;
stroke:rgb(0,0,255);fill-opacity:0.9;"/>
<polygon points="0,0 100,100 170,250 20,10"
style="fill:#cccccc;
stroke:#000000;stroke-width:1"/>
</svg>
now what i am tring to do is from the file index.html try to access the element called "mytestrectangle" that is in the file test.svg. But I am incliding this file in index.html via the embed object. Is there a way I can access that element via javascript from the index.html page?
hope i expained clear what i need.
Thank you in advance for the help.

Well, I do not found any way to access elements that reside in
file you have used in embed tag.
However, you can access embed object as whole like
<html>
A Circle
<embed src="circle123.gif" name="circle">
A Square
<embed src="square123.gif" name="square">
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
document.write(document.embeds.length," embedded objects.");
-->
</script>
</html>
