sometimes, i want to use messagebox because of debugging.
I know that ASP.net can't use messagebox.
But i think that read some article which explain how can use messagebox in ASP.NET by import dll files.
Is there anyone who know use messagebox?

Hi All,
Easiest to explain if I show an example:
I have a DataGridView which has a column that is a combo box.
I have a dataset as the source, it has two columns: FirstName and LastName.
I want the combo box to display "LastName, FirstName", ie, I want the display member to be a combination of two columns. Is this possible? Or will I have to add a new column to my dataset "FullName" which will be the two added together?
Cheers,
Brad

Assuming that you're using Sql, how about concatenating the fields there?
SELECT [Field1] + [Field2] FROM ..

The combobox only handles a single column of displayed data.
It has a displaymember and a valuemember property for binding to the datasource.
But if you must display multicolumn in a combobox then you can concatenante your column values,
like Eddy's shown in SQL. In VB this works like:
Dim FnLn As String
Dim drRow As DataRow
For Each drRow In DataSet.Rows 'or DataSet.Tables("Table1").Rows
FnLn = drRow("Lastname") & " , " & drRow("Firstname")
cb1.Items.Add(FnLn)
Next

I ran into an issue that I cannot do a WORKAROUND with my service under the 4.0 framework.
I converted the service in IIS to 2.0, I converted the project to 3.5, and now I need to configure the service.
It is correct to assume that I must use the 3.0 wcf configuration tool instead of the 4.0 config too?

I have a situation. lets say there is a website called "www.abc.com" i want to send some string from that website to a remote local machine application through static IP(which is the ip of that particular machine).
how can i complete this task.
please share your idea.

Take a look at Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). This should provide all the comms options you could possibly want (and more).

Hi Pete.
Thanks for reply me.
Can i accomplish this task without WCF, Because i am not very much aware of WCF.
Please suggest.

Yeah, you could, but it's also going to the be easiest route to take.

What is other way. can you please explain me

No, I can't. There simplly isn't enough space in a forum post to cover everything WCF does and how to do it.
WCF doesn't encompass just one method of communicating. It's a suite of classes that encapsulates many methods of communication.
You can read more here[^].

Dear all,
I have inherited a web app project that makes use of a number of WCF Web Services hosted on a remote server. We have two environments that I need to deploy this project to, with different URLs for the different remote servers.
i.e. In the Staging environment, I need to point the services at xx.xx.xx.101
In the Live environment, I need to point them at xx.xx.xx.102, or whatever.
Currently, we've got all of the URLs stored in keys in the web.config file, so that we can change them dynamically... Unfortunately this isn't working!
If I change the URL in the web.config to something other than what the project was compiled with, I get an error when calling the web service:
Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: xx.xx.xx.101\ServiceName\MethodName.
During the .NET conversion process from 1.1 to 3.5, there is a Auto Generated web reference source file (Reference.cs under web reference) that contained the logic to get the correct Production URL for configuration file (web.config).
The problem is this logic seem to be replaced with a manual hard code referencing test webservice URL. Regarding how this happened still seems to be a puzzle which is hard to find as this file was supposed to be auto-generated and no manual edits should have taken place. This was not encountered in TEST environment as the unit test scenarios covered Common test accts.
It's driving me mad! I've written a pre-build NAnt script to go through and replace all instances of the URL found anywhere in the project directory, and even that isn't making any difference.
There must be something else being pulled down from the service when I click the "update reference", but I'm new to working with web services, and so I'm not sure what.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a way to do this programatically?

Windows XP SP3; .NET Framework 3.5 SP1; Microsoft Office 2007; C #.
At attempt to print a file through printer "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" to the user the dialog box "Save the file as" in which it should enter a XPS-file name is output. What it is necessary to make, that the printer printed at once in any file without inquiry for the user of a filename?
For example, for the printer "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" after record in a register key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\ MODI\MDI writer" in parametre "OpenInMODI" values "0", the printer starts to print in a file "Note.tif" without inquiry of a filename for the user. It can be possible to make something similar and for printer "Microsoft XPS Document Writer"?

The mechanism of the XPS-press includes 2 components: the XPS-printer and XPS-port (and is named XPSPort - can look in properties of the printer) - last does exactly one thing, writes turned out XPS-document in a file (and from the XPS-printer goes already valuably serialised XPS). The important consequence From here turns out: if to route output to standard port of type FILE, or even to make local port it is possible to write files at the desire.
There is a problem of a pop-up window. Unfortunately, the unique way without development which has been found is to create on the basis of the standard driver the type of the printer, having taken the standard interface unit, the standard driver...
In the attached file there are necessary files for printer installation. After printer installation it is necessary in properties of the printer to set output in local file port, preliminary having created it.
Everything after that it is possible to print through the new printer in the set file without inquiry of a filename.

Install DDK (WDK) and modify the sample printer port driver. Inside it you can control the output filename.

- Create e.g. a DialogBox.
- Open the DialogBox on clicking the Button.
- Let the user put in data on the DialogBox.
- Validate the data.
- Add/Insert this data in the GridView.
- Update/Sort the GridView.

I was reading about
1. WMI and WMI providers
2. Filewatcher class in DotNet
I have a question.
I I should be able to a DotNet application that uses filewatcher class to track changes
to a file name (rename).
I would like to to have my tracking application running all the time.
I want my tracking application to make use of WMI concept to generate a 'peep ... peep'
sound when a file is renamed.
Is this feasible.
That I need WMI is a guess.
Or is it that to do this I do not have to use filewatcher at all and I just need the WMI?

You need to handle the Renaming event of the FileSystemWatcher and use SoundPlayer class in it to play the sound.
