Which CodeProject are you using? I see no yellow bar, response is fine, and the up down keys work just fine.
It's time for a new signature.

I just logged on as normal.
There is a yellow bar pinned to the top of the messages.
Is says "Hint: For improved responsiveness use Internet Explorer 4, Firefox or above. Ensure Javascript is enabled and choose 'Normal' from the Layout dropdown and hit 'Update'."
OFFS!!!!
Sorted.

Hi there!
after two 5 votes in the C/C++ forum I got this message with the third one:
You or someone at your IP address has been voting too often. Please wait a moment and try again.
This makes it hard to appreciate good answers...

Yeah, that's been my experience too. It should definitely be higher than this, specially for 5 votes. For 1 votes a max of two votes within a time makes sense, for 5 votes it should be raised to at least six.

How about we agree to 5 per minute?

I'll take it

How about no limit for upvoting with 5?
How bad can it be if you "like" a lot of posts... okay a limit for non-human voting can be imposed, but I guess you the hamsters handle that somewhere else already.

Upvoting sprees are just as bad as downvoting. We've had 'em both.

How about manually targeting the bad apples, not feasible (too much work)? Just a suggestion.

Make it based on user level? Bronze heavily restricted, while platinum (and gold?) have minimal or no constraints.

I was looking for an old message that I posted, so I pulled up 'my messages' and clicked on the 'last' link. Seems you have an off-by-one. I have (until this!) exactly 3 pages worth of messages [I think], and 'last' took me to page 4. That page has none of my stuff on it, and a H1 of Latest Messages. http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/Messages.aspx?fmid=3214823&fid=0&pgnum=4[^]

you fixed it by reporting; there should now be one message on the last page of "My Messages"
|
|

I did foresee that. Only another n-1 messages until it happens again, unless the hamsters get there first!

Back in July '06, you addressed an issue regarding unviewable text beyond the horizontal screen border. A similar issue still exists with the Messages.
It usually appears when someone posts code in their message. The code lines are wider than the message list and get chopped off with no means offered to view the hidden content. Making matters worse, the text of the message itself gets extended to that same width and the message becomes unintelligable because of the missing text. See the message from Kristian Sixhoej on this article[^] for an example.
Clicking Reply displays the message on a different form where the text wraps appropriately and is then readable. But having to start a reply is a lousy prerequisite for access to a readable message.

Assuming you are talking about this message, I can see the whole thing just fine, even when I make the browser window smaller. All I have to do is use the scrollbar to scroll to the right. I'm on XP SP3 using IE8. I will do a little test to see if I can create the problem here with a wider message in a PRE tag:
Begin_AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA_End

Ah, it works fine in IE8, but it gets chopped off in IE8 Compatibility Mode.

trying to break things around here?
FYI: word wrap needs words, not a single sustained guttural
and it won't work inside PRE tags.

A holdover from when I used to do QA, I'm afraid.

Scrollbars would be nice.
