Dear friends,
as an Administrator I love the way Windows-ACLs do their work for us. The Framework does indeed support Access Control Lists but it has the lack of using them easily for your own custom objects. There are some functions that are not implemented in managed code, requiring that logic to be PInvoked, such as Inheritance-, Propagation-, Persistance- and AccessCheck-mechanisims.
I have started to implement that missing pieces by building an interface-based object model for the backend and a WPF-based Editor for the frontend looking like the Windows-Original.
I would like to initiate an article / project about that if - and here comes my questions in place - there is a general interest from your side.
So if you are interested in that matter or (even better) would like to support it, please post me an answer here on codeproject or just send me an eMail.
Greetings,
Tobias

Asking what the interest is doesn't quite work. Your post will only be seen by a small number of people. Don't try and find the interested people.
Just write the article, let the search engine crawlers find it and, eventually, interested people using Google, Bing, and Yahoo, will find you.

Hi All,
I need to use different login forms for different folders with forms authentication. So i am using different web.config for each folder. Now if i write authentication tag in any sub folder's web.config it shows this error.
(It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.)
I need it urgent, can u help.
Thanks in advance.

|

One it would be helpful to see what elements you trying to use in the web.config files.
Two, saying it is urgent is very rude. This is a volunteer site and people will answer, if at all, on their time, not yours.

maybe you need to look to the property of allowDefinition in your machine.config (C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG/machine.config)?? it must be set to MachineToApplication.
|
|
|
|
|
If you have web.config files in lower level directories, these directories must be Applications in IIS as well.

I would add one text box for the salary and one for the tax.
Enter the salary in the first text box and then display the tax (in the second text box) based on your if else statements.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

A DataGridView , four columns;
- Row number
- Minimum salary
- Maximum salary
- Tax
Easy in maintenance, ideal for datatypists, nice short formal UI-specification.

What do you mean by that? Can't you create the TextBox to hold the values?

Your wifi network, is usually an internal network. If you place a webserver and hook it to your internal network, it will only be available when you'r 'in the network'. So yes, this is possible.
|
|
|
|
|
This more a function for network admin than coding. The wireless network should be secured and only accessible by employees. If the page is on a public web server then you will need to check the http headers and only allow requests that come from your local network.

In IIS you can set IP restrictions for access to a site. Limit the access to only those IPs given out by your wireless network.

Hi,
i have gridview and have Detail View.
I want to edit the page with all controls loaded instead of showing in Bound Field.
While using <asp:CommandField ShowEditButton="True" />
i am able to show all values in Text boxes.
Instead i need to show in respective controls like textbox, checkboxlist, listbox and drop down. How to implement this?
Any urls or links?

I'm trying to migrate an application, written for .NET3.5, which uses many 3rd party controls to .NET4 (we are particularly interested by the new features in the EntityFramework 4 as well as the TaskParallel library).
Anyway when I do that some Reference seems to just disappear!?!
EDIT(my mistake)
Further I wonder how WPF control compiled for .NET3.5 (hence not using the System.Xaml dll) will work when loaded with the new xaml parser...
Any tip on that topic?
