If this[^] is low quality, then goodness knows what my attempts will be classed as.

Thanks. The trouble is - I've read a lot of articles by the likes of Sacha, Dan Vaughan, Roman Kiss, Josh Smith and Marc, and they outstrip mine by huge amounts.

Of course it is, that's why they have this[^] page.

What is your preferred toolset to write an article then?

vi and a hex editor to knock the images together.

you better try out the improved "vim" sometimes in the near future
just for the nice colours...

If you have an old Office CD lying around, you might want to use Frontpage (the 2003 version was the last one). When I helped edit CP articles as a volunteer editor, I heavily used Frontpage (and no, it does not add unwanted HTML fluff as is popularly believed).

Seriously though - I write my articles in Expression Web.

I write mine in Notepad++ and pinch the CP css file so I can see what it will look like. I also abuse Sarah and get her to proof read everything and run the text sections through an online spell checker just in case.

I added the following comment to this question:
I wrote: FYI, I changed the title of your question. In the future, choose more descriptive titles than "Help Please".
However, the text got mangled by the hamsters and this is what ended up displaying:
CP wrote: FYI, I changed the title of your question. In the future, choose more descriptive titles than #Quote#Help Please#Quote#.
I liked my quotes better.

Really? We were hoping to start a trend in new quote usage.
(Flush your cache to get the corrected JS. Turns out we had an odd happening in our minimisation system)

I get this validation error when attempting to click the "Accept Alternate" button on my tip/trick at:
http://www.codeproject.com/Tips/92463/Find-a-Parent-Control-Recursively.aspx[^]
<p class="error" id="AcceptError" style="display: block;">An error occurred while attempting to accept this answer. Please try again later.</p>
I followed the instructions and tried again later, but to no avail.

I edited THIS[^] question to try to make some sence out of it and added pre tags around the code.
But it doesn't format the code, simply prints out the tags...
Wonder why it does that?

There is an "Ignore HTML..." checkbox underneath the edit box; maybe that was checked. Can't tell for sure as Pete has stepped in, and all looks fine now.
|
|
|
|
|
That was, indeed, the problem.
|
|
|
|
|
The Ignore HTML tags option was set. This prevents the pre tag from working as you'd expect. I fixed the formatting.

Didn't notice that. Sorry.
And thanks for the help Pete & Luc

Hi.,
How about adding new Language in Programming section. language is C++ only, but Programming interface is "Qt". If we add that section then it's very much useful to the Qt users. Qt is own by nokia.
for more info regarding Qt

Thanks
