I agree with you, however, I feel on this global forum there should be respect for other CP Members sentiments as well. I also believe CP Members should not "abuse" any community.
I am happy if you feel that posting such derogatory remarks against one country is fine and such practices should be encouraged, however, in that scenario, I would prefer to have single/consistent yard-stick, in the sense, if an Indian is posting any comment against western countries, his message should not be "down-voted" and deleted from the forum.

I agree, and disagree. I agree that there should be respect, but I disagree (well disagreeish - even though there's no such word) in that I think that the Vote to remove should be used for ALL such messages; I don't think derogatory remarks are valid for any nation.

Thanks Moderators for removing the message from Lounge and moving it to Soapbox.

Chris or someone,
Can you move this message to the Soapbox please.
Just do it!

I disagree - it matched the tone of posts that it replied to.
And he did go on to explain his analogy in a later post.
Was it anti Brit? Yes!
Was it completely over the top...? I don't think so. It was close though!
Was it definitely provoked? Yes.
Iain.
I am one of "those foreigners coming over here and stealing our jobs". Yay me!

I owe you half an apology - I thought you were complaining about the anti-brit part of the post, and then later saw the anti-Arab aspect.

No worries.
As far as your previous post here, couldn't agree more he was giving like-for-like to DD.

I am tempted to use my own race card here.
There have been far far worse posts directly and intentionally abusing "races" but only mine, which is racist only by stretching the imagination, is reported? Why, 'cause I am an Indian ?!
But I won't.

Well report them then, nothing stopping you, I'd applaud you for it. I understand the reasons why there is some anti-Indian sentement here , but I also think such sentement is getting out of hand.

So now you are accusing me of racism. Interestingly, this is a classic troll tactic. I didn't know you were Indian until I read your Biog after reporting you, it wouldn't matter to me if you come from Britain, Mongolia or Matabili-Zululand, I would have still reported your message.

"It is well known that Arabs retained, maintained and helped propagate knowledge during the "dark ages". This was their major role as opposed to "original" aspects; they synthesised. If it wasn't for them we might have still been in dark ages."
If he said that about Australians I'd be proud.
If it offends you then click the "Vote to remove message" link.

You do know a lot of things will be said about Australians over the next couple of months, don't you?
I cannot help myself, and if any are particularly cruel and hurtful, then I feel my time has been well spent.
(If England lose this series I will be humiliated by every Ocker on the site, I am aware of this, but one has standards to maintain!).

I hate to argue with the throne, but he is backtracking, the statement he orignally made is:
"You are the Arab equivalent of knowledge, you hardly came up with anything original and just propagated what you came across".
If he'd said that about Australians would you still be proud?
He is wrong BTW, the Arabs under the early Caliphates made huge advances in Sciences (especially the "hard" sciences, while we brits were still pretty much painting our backsides blue, but thats not my point.

I already did, apologies if posting here was the wrong thing to do.
[Edit]
Apologies for the Sh*t-Storm that has ensued, this really wasn't the intended purpose.

I still do that. It's fun. It tickles, and it makes me chuckle to think that Mel Gibson's face looks like my arse.

I can only re-iterate my apology, I actually thought posting here was the correct thing to do (as per spam etc).

That comment wasn't directed at you, and I do appreciate being made aware of issues.
The comment (and my lack of coffee will hopefully excuse my grumpiness) is that there has been a trend in the last few days to have big long "did too!", "did not!" discussions in this forum and the lounge and it's driving me nuts.

Sorry, up until 2am then an 8am start, so I'm half way to the land of nod myself, and not entirely with it.

Yeah, it seems to be hacking a lot of people off, and I can see why after today. Hopefully it'll calm down soon.

The Australian dark ages? Was that when the beer ran dry in Michael Martin's house for a night?
