It wasn't really a controversy. The author had found a hole in Windows, and CP wanted to give MS a chance to deal with it rather than leave the exploit open.

With just a little encouragement, the author is revisiting his article to add information about risk mitigation.

I realize that this is entirely my own problem, but I use "thread view" and I keep accidently clicking Bookmark when I mean to click "View the x replies to this message".
Could some vertical space be added?
Or, could there be some sort of functionality added to bookmarks that would cause a dialog to popup to ask the user something? Kind of like with adding favorites in the browser -- you can choose a folder. It might actually be good for the user to be able to group his bookmarks as he chooses, rather than simply by forum -- like "Wise words from Luc" or "Sacha's pearls of wisdom" or "Dumb things I've posted".

could be better if it is possible to perform a search on pages/contents of bookmarks.

I think I like that.
BTW: the main shortcoming in the bookmark system is it is limited to CodeProject.
I prefer to keep ALL my bookmarks in one central repository.

I don't; I like modularity, separation of duties, etc.

...for people to decorate their User ID with HTML?

Some HTML, not just any HTML.
What's the problem? Filters need tightening?

No, just wasn't expecting a user ID to contain font tags (or any tags for that matter)...

I'm getting a new scope this week. Once it's zeroed in, I'll be able to hit any man-sized target from 100 to 600 yards without changing the elevation setting on ths scope.

You don't need to worry... He'd have to get through TSA security first and I believe that encounter would make international news long before he could get to you.

I looked at the first 2 pages of my recently posted messages and somebody appears to be blanketing me with 1-votes. It has had minimal effect on my reputation, but maybe they could use a talking to?

Oh, and if you want to know who it is and why, I could help you out with that. But I thought I'd let the server logs speak for themselves.

They 1-voted the first 2 pages of my answers as well.

I'm confused, you just replied to your own post as though you were a different person?

Actually, I originally reported that my messages were being downvoted and my reply was that my answers were also being downvoted. That's not to say I don't have a split personality though.
