This is a working example.
I understand you are a novice but you don't seem to have a base from which to understand this. There is nothing more I can explain if you don't understand basic event handling in .net. I would suggest you pick up a book on ASP.NET and work through it. Then, if you still don't understand how this works, come back and ask more questions.

Hi Mark,
I've a few licenses of ESET NOD32 to be given away (It's fully functional, free, no strings attached, and nothing expected in return), and I chose a few people whom I think are contributing on the programming forums regularly. If you'd like one of those licenses, drop me a line.
You could write to me at rajesh AT indiamvps DOT net

In CP there is a section for Web Security[^] so browse the articles there...do what do you want.

Make sure to hard-code your connection strings in your webpages and make use of plenty of string concatenations to form inline sql statements.

Nah, I got it; but I've seen such things in production code.
Besides, you forgot to make sure it included raw user input in those concatenations, particularly when he is stringing-together DDL.

Hi...
In my application i used timer for data update. Want to show graph view via asp chart control. Timer calling every 2sec once data available in the database that information populate to chart then show its to page. Once data got i disabled the timer ( timer1.Enable = false). After that timer call once again in page_load callback method.
How can restrict these. Is possible to make synchronized call in asp timer
Thanks

If I understand you correctly (and there is a good chance that I don't, not enough tea this morning ), this won't work server side: Once the page is rendered to the browser it is pretty much closed for business and the page object on the server is close to disposal.
If you want timed updates, you'll need to call them from the browser side, your requirements seem especially suited to AJAX, there is a sample partial update here http://ajax.net-tutorials.com/controls/timer-control/[^]

I have a big issue regarding an Intranet website.
If i use Forms authentication everything works fine.. If I turn Windows authentication on I get logged in but it seems like I loose access to all files on the server.
I do have Identity Impersonate set to true so no matter if I login with Forms or Windows my User.Identity.name = GSPV\DK.. which is my domain and user.
I've tried to set maximum permission to all folders on the site to every possible user, but still it can't read, mostly images, from folders.
Unfortunally it's not possible to hook up my debugging environment to the IIS itself because of geographical issues.
In the IIS (6.0)/Directory Security I have disabled anonymous access and enabled Integrated windows authentication
My web.config looks like this:
<authorization>
<deny users="?">
</authorization>
<identity impersonate="true" />
<authentication mode="Windows />
btw.. If I set
<identity impersonate="true" userName="GSPV/DK" password="ThePassword" /> everything works great..
Anyone?

Have you tried something like this?
<configuration>
<location path="Images">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<allow users="?"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
</configuration>

No luck.
It feels like the user is not getting set properly cause when I include userName and Password in the config-file it impersonates the GSPV\DK user
This works:
<identity impersonate="true" userName="GSPV\DK" password="ThePassword" /> This doesn't work (but I get logged in):
<identity impersonate="true" />

Is there a way in VStudio to set a breakpoint on a line where an exception is expected and tell the debugger that when a particular exception is encountered to "catch" it and proceed with the normal flow of execution? This is particularly useful so that putting a try-catch and then rebuilding would not be necessary while discovering exceptions. Hope not a newbie/ridiculous question.

Hi,
Are facing any problem in putting try/catch in your code block? I guess, it is not so difficult.
It is anyways suggested to use try/catch unless you are so much sure about your code that it will never throw exception.
(No further argument on this, as different people has different school of thoughts)
If you are developing web application, void Application_Error(object sender, EventArgs e) method in Global.asax file catches your exception (just after exception is thrown) and you can put breakpoint there to analyze what happened wrong.
Hope this will help.

I've developed an app that uses database on pc3 computer.
my computer is pc1. My app connects fine with pc3 db from my computer (pc1) though I don't have iis installed. But when I put app on pc2 with iis installed. and try to access it like. (http://192.168.1.3/trackweb/ where trackweb is virtual directory assigned to it.
It does not connect with pc3 database and gives above mentioned error.
Some of the options I've tried.
1. turn firewall off. allow http port through firewall.
2. change connection string in a different ways. last one I tried.
Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=192.168.1.5;Initial Catalog=SpyTrack;User ID=sa;Password=psw;
3. install asp.net on pc3.
4. add local policy, and permit all ip traffic/ all icmp traffice on pc3.
but nothing works.
Hope someones there to help me.

I have some simple questions about using ajax(from JS code) in asp.net applications:
1. what does happen when a httpXmlRequest object sends a request to the server? is the page_load executed? is any other method executed?
2. is the code that is written inside the !Page.IsPostBack block executed?
3. what is the right way to call a specific server method(for example: a method which retrieves a datatable from the DB and updates a drop down list) ?
I know you may say that I should find this information in some basic ajax tutorial via google, but I just can't find a tutorial that well covers those issues...

May be you didn't try enough. When I search for AJAX life cycle in Google, the very first link answers all your questions.
1, 2 - A WebForms based page that uses Microsoft Ajax raises the same server life-cycle events as an ASP.NET 4 Web page and in addition raises client life-cycle events. The client events enable you to customize the UI for both postbacks and for asynchronous postbacks (partial-page updates). The client events also help you manage custom script components during the lifetime of the page in the browser.
Ref: Ajax Client Life-Cycle Events[^]
So yes and no (in case of a postback) for question 1 and 2 respectively.
3 - There is an exaple in the given link which should clear this query as well.
I suggest you to read the article in the given link. It will help you clear your doubts and build a good fundamental so that you can proceed with complex AJAX application.
Cheers!

Hello guys,
How can I get a string with parameters from the resource file directly in aspx?
I have a resource string like: "Enter values from {0} to {1}"
I know that from the code behind I can get the string like:
string.Format(Resources.Messages.Interval, "10", "100");
But I want to use the resource string on the aspx, like:
<asp:label id="Label1" runat="server" text="<%$ Resources:Messages, Interval %>
How can I set the resource string parameters from the aspx page??
thanks
<div class=" signature"="">Peterson

Why not use String.Format in your label?
<asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" Text='<%=String.Format(Resources.Messages.Interval, "10", "100")' />
Note the use of single quotes for Text , which should prevent confusion with the double quotes in the function.
