Digital formats (PDF, e-book...) are better in several ways when you are trying to solve a specific problem...
You can load them at your computer, put them on a separate display and search for the topic/text you are looking for. moreover when you get the result you can copy and paste it to your code...
Much better in all the ways one can imagine.

I'm not entirely with you on this one. You don't need a power supply to read a book (well, unless it's night, and you need a light). So if your travelling for long periods of time, you'll be able to read it without problem.
Granted, as power on eBook readers gets better this is probably going to be less of an issue.
However, another point of paperbooks over eBooks is that you can open several pages at once (useful for reference material, which most programming books are)
